About This Newsletter

I always knew that Harry's story would end with the seventh book, but saying goodbye has been just as hard as I always knew it would be. Even while I'm mourning, though, I feel an incredible sense of achievement. I can hardly believe that I've finally written the ending I've been planning for so many years. I've never felt such a mixture of extreme emotions in my life, never dreamed I could feel simultaneously heartbroken and euphoric.

Letter from the editor

Well folks this is the first fantasy newsletter since the release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. What did you think about it? Did it meet your expectations? How long did it take you to read all the way through?

By the way, please read without fear of spoilers. I will not be discussing plot points here.

Being a big Potter fan myself, I've been excited about the book release for a long time. I'm one of those fans who waited impatiently for the release of the cover art, and when it was finally revealed, squealed with delight. A good friend and I even went to a midnight book release party (which I've never done before) to get the book. I was so nervous about some idiot going to the end and screaming out spoilers until I could read it though, that I considered listening to my iPod on full blast until I had the book in hand. But I didn't. The party we went to was smallish and there were no idiots, just a bunch of excited people eager and chatting in line.

My friend and I grabbed our books, spent a few minutes to call her brother and brag that we had them, then parted. She wanted to start immediately, but as I value sleep, I wanted to at least get a few hours in before reading.

I manged to get about five hours before I woke up at 6, which is normally way too early on a Saturday morning. But I was too excited to go back to sleep and grabbed the book. Five and a half hours later, I finished.

Can you think of another event that has been so anticipated by so many people? Think of the security that's been hovering over these things... they're books! But to any true Harry Potter fan, we know that they're more than just books. They're fun and interesting. We care about fictional characters as if they were our siblings. They show us ourselves in some small way, perhaps we see Hermione's "know-it-all" attitude and ruefully chuckle because we know that we can be like that too. Or perhaps we read about the death of someone close to Harry and grow sad as we remember someone close in our life that died. Many people have grown up with these books. I came to them late, when books 1-4 were already out and well-established, but I haven't loved them any less than someone who was there from the beginning.

So this is your chance now. Send in your thoughts about book 7 and we can have one last send off for a brillantly-written series.

Well what did you expect?

I won't post a full review, but suffice it to say that this is probably the best-written book of the entire series, and I loved it.

Interesting. Have you read a series called Rangers Apprentice? Volume four isn't out yet, but I really enjoy the main characters adventures.
Thanks!

On your recommendation, I went to the libray and picked it up. It was an enjoyable read *Smile*.

Interesting and helpful! Sometimes we forget that everything in life can help us in literature and this gets the point across. Bravo!
