Expectations

What should you expect at Writing.com? Wow. How could I list everything there is to do here? Perhaps I'll cover a few things that are important to me, as a writer. *Smile*

*Note4* You will find writers of all skill levels and a variety of styles and reactions. Take and give what you feel is important. We are all individuals as writers, and most of us are here to polish our writing, though others may here for their own reasons. You do not need to be a professional author to be a part of this community. *Smile*

*Note4* Several newsletters are offered at no additional cost. Choose your favorite genres or subscribe to all of them. And don't be shy leaving feedback. Editors will include most feedback in their following newsletter. Most individual newsletters are shared by four editors, so it might be four weeks before your feedback is included. Newsletters can be not only informative, but inspiring.

*Note4* It shouldn't surprise you if your writing skills improve the longer you are here. You may also discover a form of writing you never attempted before. I truly believe there is something here for everyone!

*Note4* If you aren't ready to show your work, there are plenty of other things to take part in. Crosswords, Madlibs, Campfires, Forums, etc. are here for your enjoyment. Is there a topic you can't find that you would like to discuss? Create your very own Forum and read what others have to say. It's fun!

There are so many things to do here. And most members are more than happy to answer questions and show you around the community. Don't be afraid to browse. We welcome you with open arms!

Have a wonderful week!!!

Keep on Writing!

Yours truly,
Cubby ")

And Now For Our Featured Newbies!

 The Great Escape  [E]
Living along a bike path
by KRounds

Excerpt: He appeared, as the sun was low in the western sky. I was beginning my evening walk down the driveway, toward the bike path, when I stopped in surprise. He slowly walked toward me. Others saw him too, and as he walked toward us, unscathed by those watching, the people parted like the parting of the Red Sea, allowing him to come through.

 The Bridge  [13+]
The story of a girl and the mental toll of denial.
by Vkio

Excerpt: I met Jean in such a way we both began to believe it was fate. We both happened to wander out on the same night with the same intentions, and crossed paths on top of the rails of “Suicide Bridge” in Seattle.

 The Blinding Light  [18+]
A girl survives in Post-Apocalypse World- a world where one welcomes darkness.
by OctobeRose

Excerpt: They had come and she had seen them. The windblown girl ran swiftly through the tall, intimidating trees; attempting to escape the bitterness of the unknown. Each tree seemed to be apart of the eeriness lurking in the looming, extensive forest. Not your typical thousand acre Oaks. While desperately trying to escape she couldn’t help but ponder what she had just witnessed.

Recommended Books
Please send me your favorites!
The Book Thief by Markus Zusak
I cannot stop talking about this book. I'm hoping it will be chosen for our County-wide Book Discussion this year. If not, we will definitely discuss it at our local library book group. The first chapter or so was hard for me to get into, but after that, WOW. The 30 year-old author is an amazing writer. Nazi-Germany is not something I'd think would be easy to write about, but his style is so creative and unique. BTW, it took him three years to write this book. He originally planned to write the story in about 100 pages. 582 pages later, it's a Bestseller, and one you will never forget. Let me know what you think if you have read it!
