About This Newsletter

A man reserves his true and deepest love not for the species of woman in whose company he finds himself electrified and enkindled, but for that one in whose company he may feel tenderly drowsy. ~George Jean Nathan

Letter from the editor

Nobody has ever measured, even poets, how much a heart can hold. ~Zelda Fitzgerald

Love can be something very hard to define. In the classic romance, love overcomes obstacles for two people to come together. Sometimes we have to remember all the other sorts of love. Defining a few of those could help you write something fresh. Making a list could be another way of coming up with new ideas for your writing.

Candle light, moon light, star light,
The brightest glow is from love light.
~Grey Livingston

Things like the love a parent feels the moment their baby is born. Or the first time that child says their name. It could be the emotion you feel when your baby crawls on to Grandma's lap for a story. The pride a parent feels when a child succeeds.

Romance is dead - it was acquired in a hostile takeover by Hallmark and Disney, homogenized, and sold off piece by piece. ~Lisa Simpson, The Simpsons

Romace can be of simple things. People with enduring marriages know romance isn't always candles and flowers. Sometimes it's about being a helpmate when their partner can't carry their share. It's about making compromises. It should be about remembering the candles and flowers once in a while.

Ah me! love can not be cured by herbs. ~Ovid

Someone I know lost his spouse to lung cancer. While in the cancer ward, he met a woman who was losing her husband. Years later, they met again at a fund raiser for curing lung cancer. They agreed to go out together, dated and fell in love. An unexpected romance, wouldn't you say? Remember romance and love can happen when least expected.

There is no surprise more magical than the surprise of being loved. It is God's finger on man's shoulder. ~Charles Morgan

I hope this gives you a few ideas for your next romantic write. Write on!
Leger~
