2011 Resolutions

It's that time of year again! Time to make resolutions and goals for the upcoming new year!

*Candleb* *Partyhatg* Welcome 2011! *Candleb* *Partyhatg*

Most New Year's goals and resolutions relate to health and weight-loss, but what about Writing.Com resolutions?

Some goals to think about choosing for yourself:

*Bullet* Enter Contests & Activities

*Bullet* Create items

*Bullet* Host a contest

*Bullet* Try new forms of writing

*Bullet* Review!

*Bullet* Start/Edit/Finish a novel

The tricks to keeping your resolutions are simple: Set realistic goals and have a plan for completing those goals.

Realistic Goals:

Only you know what's realistic for you. For some, writing a poem per day is fine; for others, that's too much. Try to be challenging but not overwhelming. Remember, the purpose behind resolutions and goals is to improve and grow. Don't add too much stress to your new year!

Try setting limits. Instead of saying, "I want to write more in 2011," try setting a goal, like, "I will write 500 words per day," or "I will write one new poem per week/month." Setting tangible goals like this might help you attain them!

Make a Plan:

If your goal is to get published, or finish a novel, or just to enter a few contests per month, it's a great idea to set out a plan. Make a calendar or a list of what you need to accomplish in order to complete your goal. It'll be easier to keep track this way!

A great way to keep track is to create a static item or even a blog/journal to keep track of your journey! Make a list of short-term to long-term goals and check them off as you complete them. That way, you'll keep your goals in mind throughout the entire year!

Happy New Year!!

Always keep on writing!

Ask & Answer

My last newsletter ("Contests & Activities Newsletter (November 30, 2010)), discussed hosting your first contest on WDC.

hello,
I have just written a short story, inspired by the winter season, BrĂonna, the daughter of my girlfriend, and her boundless energy, and also by the mountains of snow we've had here in Glasgow! I hope, and wish, that you could include it in a newsletter, coming up on the holiday season!
