I Just Got Beaten by a Girl?!
Most of the time, men are depicted as the heroes and women are victims or villains. Why can't the hero be a girl?

Let's face it, women can be vicious. Women can be gentle. Women can be protective. Women can be deceptive. Women can be manipulative. Women can be strong. Women can be sensitive.

Women can be everything a man can be. That is actually proven in the fact that woman are often used as villains, a good villain is intelligent along with being evil.

So, I ask, why is a woman so rarely the hero?

There is a movie in theaters currently called The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. While I haven't seen the movie, I have read the book. I have to say, I love the character the title is named after, and I believe she represents an unbelievably awesome female hero. (And yes, I mean hero. I am unaware how well the movie follows the book - but in the book, she is most certainly a hero.) Quirky, unique, stubborn, strong-willed, introverted... she is absolutely amazing. She's not the characteristic gorgeous female lead, either, which I really like.

Women can wield a gun, they can be strong enough to lift and carry someone, they can be intelligent enough to figure out the other people's plan, and they can most certainly be a strong enough character to keep the book afloat and interesting with quirky and unique heroic personalities.

My challenge for you? Try an action/adventure story that involves a female hero this week. *Smile*
