The Things We Do For Love
The craziest thing I have ever done for love was stand in line for an hour waiting to see the new Star Wars movie. No seriously. I had no interest in seeing that movie, especially because I had never seen any of the others. My boyfriend had to practically drag me to the theater (at 9pm on a weeknight, mind you). As we were standing in line full of drunk college kids I tweeted about it with the hashtag "the things we do for love."
Which, of course, because I'm old, automatically made me think of this song:
It came out before I was born, but I find its message timeless anyway.
No, now that I think about it, the craziest thing I've ever done for love was travel five hours via bus and train on a monthly basis. It was definitely a compromise. It seemed like a good idea at the time.
But sometimes doing crazy things for love are harmless, and maybe even a little enjoyable, like going to see a movie that your partner enjoys but you don't think you will. And sometimes doing "crazy" things for love just gets you stuck in a rut where you never do anything for yourself. That's why I'm encouraging all of you to love yourself first this holiday season. Yes, it is better to give than to receive, but if you are always giving and never receiving, it may be time to do something radical with your life. This holiday season, get a little something for yourself. You deserve it.

Thanks to everyone who wrote in about my last newsletter about love in your 20's vs. love in your 30's!
Somewhere between 35 and 44 the moment hits where you realize "what you see, is what you get" really is how it should be in dating. So much less pretense. You know yourself better. You know more of what doesn't work. And you at least know what works better for you relative to being around someone else.
And you gain a real appreciation for cuddles. Because somewhere, you lost that someone, something, somewhere, some something... That tore your soul out. And now you learn to appreciate what you got.
And well you are just older, and your body likes to tell you in little ways, ahahahaha, little ways the 20something just roll their eyes at. That you choose to ignore in your 30's, and that everyone over 50 just smiles and says, "just wait." -remusmdh 
LOL...ahhh to be dating in your thirties again! I think that you can expand on that idea, with dating into the 40s and 50s and so on as well. A lot of people think that in your 40s and 50s you should be "settled" and in for the long haul. However, life happens, and sometimes the happily ever after isn't. I found your article amusing and spot on. Love for the ages: What a concept! -amyjo-Keeping it real and fun!
