Giving up love for sanity's sake
"Cher Jerome,"

("Dear Jeremy,")

I'd like to take this time
to apologize for what I've done.
Though not too harsh of a crime,
I'm afraid it's hurt only one...

I told you long ago
that my feeling had faded.
And I let it show
that I've long been jaded

You were mesmerized by my truth
and over come by my words.
You over looked my youth,
and allowed this flame to burn.

Our closeness has brought you pain,
but only guilt to me.
This lie is hard to sustain,
yet this is how it must be.

I told you that I needed time,
you said you were attached.
I took that as a sign,
to slowly break our match.

I should have been more clear in warning you,
that I don't allow myself to love,
then again, I never expected to meet you,
"mon ange" from above

Please don't think I don't care,
it's because I do that I must say
that this is something I can't bare
and it's time to walk away.
