Letter from the editor

It will soon be Christmas again, with New Years Eve close to follow. Like many people, I have been pondering my New Years Resolutions and I certainly have a few of them.

I know that simply because it is the beginning of a new year does not make that much of a difference in trying to change some aspects of my life, but it does feel like a fresh start and it is worth a try.

A few items on my list for next year:

*Bullet* A healthier diet
*Bullet* Exercise – I am thinking of going to T’ai Chi in January
*Bullet* Look for my own place to live (I share a home with a housemate)
*Bullet* Work really hard on getting published!
*Bullet* Apply for British Citizenship.

I know it’s not going to be easy. The healthy diet thing, for one. I want to lose some weight and live a healthier lifestyle but with two people who are working and one who can’t cook (that would be me), we all too often go for easy food or take-aways.

The exercise won’t be easy either – I am not too good yet at the whole social thing, especially when I don’t know the people.

My own place to live will be a pain in the backside to sort out as I work irregular hours, which does not make for a stable income and which makes it almost impossible to find a second job. I do really love the job I have so yes, it will take some pondering.

Getting published… well I don’t think I need to get into that, we all know that isn’t easy!

The applying for British Citizenship is something I want very much. Once I have lived here for five years I can apply. I need to take a couple of tests for it so it is something I need to get my head around soon.

Luckily I have my journal and blog here on Writing.Com. I find that it helps to share my life and experiences with others. Whether I go through bad times or good times, the feedback I receive from those who read my journal and blog is simply invaluable.

Throughout the past year, the support I have received from my friends here… I don’t know where I would be without them. They have brightened my days and are always able to make me smile, no matter how bad I feel.

And I know that they will be there for me to cheer me on and encourage me as I try to tackle my new projects.

The good thing about journals and blogs, apart from the support, is that it helps me when I can vent and write things down. Like with writing poetry, it is a healing process, a way to get things out of my system, to self-express.

If you do not yet have a journal and/or blog, I can truly recommend it. And I recommend reading the journals and blogs of other people. Sometimes it is good to see we are not alone. And it can be a learning experience, gaining insight into the lives and beliefs of others.

Perhaps you have some New Years Resolutions as well. Why not share your progress with your friends here on Writing.Com?

Ask & Answer

maylee - Thank you for sharing your words about hope. My grandmother used to quote the saying alot, "God helps those that help themselves." It was her way of teaching that God presents oportunities and it's up to us to make the most of them. One day I was driving through one of the small towns here in Maine and I read on a billboard, "Our lives are defined by the choices that we make." It spoke volumes to me and I've thought about it often, especially when I make a decision to act or not. Awesome newsletter Kitti! *Smile*

Thank you! And I truely believe in those sayings as well *Smile*. Not always easy to make the most of the opportunities God presents us, but I believe we should try our best.

vivacious - One thing I love about this newsletter is your willingness to share your struggles and triumphs. Your words are a great encouragement for those of us who are also having difficulty holding onto hope.

Also, thank you so much for showcasing "Salvaged Souls"! It's not one of my best, but because of you, I have received some great reviews. By applying their suggestions, it will only improve.

Thank you for your encouraging feedback!

If you have any questions, comments or suggestions, feel free to send them in! I welcome all feedback *Smile*.
