Lost in more than one way

Lost

Moonbeams through the treetops
Shadows fill the empty night.
The forest shares a pattern
in the dancing rays of light.

Wind blowing in the branches
as fear whispers in the boughs.
Lost in the deepest backwoods
Need to find my way somehow

I must have walked for hours
in circles round and round.
I couldn't find my way out,
and jumped at every sound.

Standing there in darkness
as the air was growing cold.
Didn't need a fortune teller
to see what night would hold.

I listened to the Hoot-owl,
Bobcat and Grisly bear.
No one knew that I was missing,
never really seemed to care.

Lost is what I've always been
when I crossed their line of sight.
No one looking twice at me
as they passed me every night.
