This is about feeling alone and the fear of growing older
Why does it have to be like this
All the time just hit and miss
Just keep on hoping
Think it might change
Give it your all
But live in a cage

Push the bars open
Run to the light
Move on out there
Put up a fight

Don't let them take you
Don't let them win
Roll with the punches
Give them a grin

It all gets too much then
This constant state
All the leftovers
Just sit on your plate

When you are tired
Of battling uphill
Who is beside you
Who will

Ask you to join them
To sit right by me
To wash all the wounds
Put cream on your knee

As your eyelids droop lower
And in steals sleep
Who is going to rock you
Your soul to keep

No one is out there
Who's going to care
Who drapes the blanket
Over your knees in the chair

When you get older
As you just might
Who will be there
To kiss you goodnight
