This to my mother who died Easter Day 2003.
Dear Mom,

It has been almost three years since you went to be with Jesus on that gloomy Easter Day. As much as you loved Easter, it was a perfect time for you to go away.

Did you know I was with you, as you struggled while lying on your death bed? Did you feel my hand tightly squeeze yours, as I tried to hold on to you? Did you feel my tears rain on your gown, as I cried in sorrow? Did you hear my words, as I told you that I loved you? Did your heart feel the shattering of my heart, as I had to say goodbye? I was a part of you when I took my first breath in life. You were a part of me when you took your last.

You weren't just my Mom, you were my best friend. You gave me a hug when I needed it and you gave me advice even when I thought I didn't. You were the first person I would call when news was great. You were my cheerleader. You were the first person I would call when things were bad. You were my angel.

Easter has been a grievous time for me since you have been gone. But God was gracious when He gave us our first Granddaughter last Easter. How amazing is that? More amazingly, she has your big grin, your upturned nose, and your sparkling charm. She is my Easter blessing.

I wish you were here this Easter, but you are celebrating in a better place. Just remember that I love you and my memories of you are dear to me.

Happy Easter Mom!
Love,

Darla
