A poem about how hard it can be to make the first move in expressing your feelings.
I'm taking cautious footsteps,
to a place I've never been,
I'm calculating paces,
so when I get there, I'll get in,
I stand here at the threshold,
only one more step to take,
I've come so far, and yet this is,
the hardest move to make.

I cross over the boundary,
with the last bit of my strength,
I feel as though a pirate has
just shoved me off a plank,
so when you ask me if I love you
and my body shakes,
its 'cause I'm nervous about making
the hardest move to make.

This world I've just come into,
is like nothing that I've seen,
the grass is orange, the trees are blue,
the sky is seafoam green,
and yet I've come to realize,
in the beauty of this place,
the only moves worth making
are the hardest moves to make.

So I leave this world behind me,
and run to where you are,
I know someday I'll find you,
no matter near or far,
you have to know I love you,
no matter what it takes,
and you're the only one worth making,
the hardest move to make.
