This poem is a metaphor about love
My heart has been captured
By the promises
She bounces back at me
And in those glints
Of clean white light
I do not see myself
But something that
Shines,
Flashing to and fro
With too much impossibility
That leaves me
Breathless, drunken, starry
Like staring
At the scimitar crescent
Of a fresh moon.
Sharp,
But glowing and enigmatic.
And in those perfect
Beveled surfaces,
Flat with geometric precision,

I sense my tied hands,
Wanting to reach out
But unable to
For such fair holiness
Shines too brilliantly
In the black pupils
Of my eyes.

I back away in silence
in tearless vision
to my dark cave.
