emotional burdens of war
People during war cry like the thunder of heaven
Their hearts beating strong and scared
Turning away from their families
Unsure if they'll ever be back
Their nerves pound
Like a massive bolt of lightning
People during war cry like the thunder of heaven

How long will they be gone?
Will they ever return?
Their hearts beating strong and scared
How much will they change
After witnessing all the blame?
They stand up proud
Trying hard not to show the sorrow inside
Their hearts beating strong and scared
People during war cry like the thunder of heaven

Mom, dad, brother, sister, wife and child
Each one looking back
To see their families one last time
Before they enter the battleground
People during war cry like the thunder of heaven

Each soldier sitting, not making a noice
The bus travels further
Into unknown territory
The large, strong men
The once stood so proud
Are now beginning to realize
That they may never make it home
Tears slowly fall from the faces of these soldiers
As tehy remember their fondest memories
Back home, on the safe turf.
People during war cry like the thunder of heaven

Each ones heart is beating more rapidly
As they enter the unknown turf
Unsure if this is the last time
They'll see the men
That made this journey with him
Are all there to watch
The departure of the soldiers
Sons, brothers, husbands, dads
So many people they're leaving behind
All are crying like the massive thunder of heaven
Unsure if they'll be back
People during war cry like the thunder of heaven

Trying to show no emotion
As they look one last time
At their families standing
All staring back at them
Desperately trying to hold back the tears
People during war cry like the thunder of heaven

Standing proud as they board the bus
That will take them to the battleground
The beginning of a journey
Or maybe the end of a life
People during war cry like the thunder of heaven

Their hearts beat with a jolt
As the bus travels down the road
All equally scared
Just hoping they will return home
People during war cry like the thunder of heaven

People during war cry like the thunder of heaven
Their hearts beating strong and scared
Turning away from their families
Unsure if they'll ever be back
Their nerves pound
Like a massive bolt of lightning
People during war cry like the thunder of heaven
