I was stuck in a dark garage, scrared and lonely. (written in my point of view)
Alone And Scared

“What’s that?” I thought as the big white door made a thump as it hit the ground. I came out from my dark hiding place expecting to see the bright sunshine through the open garage door, but darkness was all I met.“Hey, why did you close the door on me, how am I going to get out?” I thought with panic. I calmed myself down; knowing full well my Mommy would came and fetch me any minute.

I could hear the laughter of the children playing close by. I love to watch the neighborhood children playing. I imagined their smiling faces as they tossed the ball or ran for cover trying to avoid the sprays of my brother’s super duper water shooter.

The thought of water made me thirsty. “I hadn’t had a drink in a while. “Mommy I am here, come and get me, I am hungry and thirsty,” I yelled.I tired to keep myself occupied, I played hide n go seek, but it was no fun alone.
I tried to catch as many bugs as I could with my eyes closed. I even counted the left over bricks from my neighbor's brand new shed.

I could tell it was nearing nightfall. The neighborhood kids started saying goodnight, and mothers began collecting their young ones with loud hollers.

“I am here,” I yelled in reply to my Mother calling my name. Then I heard our back door close. Maybe she didn’t hear me, I thought with shock. I knew my family would be concerned. I had never been away from home for so long.
I heard my Mother call me a few more times, but she never came for me.

The traffic noises faded and the neighborhood became fearfully still. I made myself comfy, acknowledging the fact that I would sleep on the cold garage floor for the night. dreamt of my secure house and my loving family. How I longed to be in my noisy house being chased by my baby brother Steven.

The sun finally peeked through a crack in the garage door. “Phew!” I thought with anticipation. My family is sure to find me now. Why wasn’t my mother coming to me? I was answering her every time I heard her call.
I listened carefully as my mother and father spoke on the porch. “What shall we do,” my father asked in an apprehensive voice. “Wait I hear something,” mommy said in a eager voice.

She found me! I could smell her through the thick garage door. “Menew, Menew, my mommy called. I let out the loudest purr I ever purred. She’s here and alive, my mommy called in a victorious voice. “Quickly go to the neighbor’s house and ask him to open the garage door,” she called to my awaiting family.

I could hear my 11-year-old brother’s loud footsteps running across the pavement.
“Are you sure?” she hollered as he told her the neighbors weren’t home.

Things got frightfully quiet again. Then a few minutes later my brother was at the garage door. “Psssss Psssss Pssssss, Come close,” I heard my brother say to the garage door. I stuck my mouth as close to the crack as I could. The smell of food brought happy tears to my Egyptian eyes. From the crack in the garage door, was a spoon with shredded chicken a cheese, my favorite.
My brother feed me for a while and then sprayed some water into the crack. I hated being sprayed with water, but that day it was very welcoming.

I took a nap on an old bookshelf and felt my babies playing tag in my womb. I knew I was due very soon but I hoped it would wait till I got home.I thought about my last delivery. Mommy was my midwife; she sat with me through all 5 deliveries. She rubbed my back and said me encouraging words. She too is a mother of five. When my stillborn was delivered, mommy cried and told me how sorry she was for me.

I fell into a deep sleep, again thinking about my comfy home and my room in the basement. I had my own room. The other kids at home had to share, but I had a nice cool room with all the necessities a cat desires. The day quickly turned into night. I had eaten a few times through the crack in the door, but the neighbors still hadn’t come home.

The next morning I woke to my 11 year old brother’s arms. He carried me across the yard. When I got home there was a big bowl of my favorite cat food and a clean bowl of water. I licked everyone in the house and ran down to my room. I snuggled in the cat apartment my father had made and thank my creator for my family and my 9 lives.
