Ignorance is bliss
Damned to Knowledge

“Ignorance is bliss,” they say.
So, what is Knowledge, then?
I guess it’s when the old folks say:
“Oh, I remember when…”

They tell the stories of men who died
On the frontline where they’d fought.
And of the men who lived and won
The freedom for which they’d sought.

Then they go on to tell the tale
Of the post-war depression.
And after that, then Hitler
Who took a step in the wrong direction.

Then on to the days where folks filled the streets
In rebellious, yet peaceful strife.
And the day the towers fell in New York.
Tears filled my eyes at the sight.

You see, “You can’t know where you’re going
‘Till you know where you’ve been.”
That’s why they tell us these cursed things.
That’s why we’re Damned to Knowledge then
