Subterranean Secrets

Every time Charlotte peered down those stairs, a twinge of irritation tickled the back of her skull; her husband knew she was afraid of the dark and yet refused to change the lightbulb so she could make use of the basement. Little did she know the basement was already in use and, if that purpose ever came to light, their fiction of a normal life would be over forever.
