One night could cost Jim everything.
It was time for the toasts. The best man took another swig of beer and stood. “To the bride and groom, Trish and Jim, congratulations. I wish you the best. This day has been a long time coming. I for one never thought it would happen, but here we are celebrating your love. Speaking of celebrating, Jim do you remember your bachelor party? That stripper was hot man!”

The guests chuckled. Jim was frantically waving his arms behind his new wife’s head. He didn’t want Frank to continue talking about the stripper. He prayed Frank would get the hint. However Jim had no such luck.

“Man Jim, I still can’t believe you hooked up with her that night! Good job. Anyway, to you and your lovely wife congratulations again. May your marriage be long and happy. Cheers.”

The guests were silent. Trish turned to Jim. “Hooked up with a stripper? Three days before our wedding? How could you?” With tears streaming down her face, Trish ran for the door.

“Frank, you drunken idiot, I’m going to kill you!” Jim fumed, fleeing after his new bride. “Trish baby, wait! I was drunk honey. It was a one-time thing. It’ll never happen again! Trish please, you’ve got to forgive me!”

She finally stopped running. Turning around to face her new husband, she sobbed “I can’t Jim! This is too much. I need time.”

“No Trish, please! I’ll do anything. Don’t leave me, please!” Now Jim was in tears. “We can work this out!”

Trish touched his cheek. “I love you Jim, but I can’t be with you right now. Maybe in a few months we can talk about it. Right now I can't be with you. Goodbye Jim.”

He could do nothing but watch her walk away.
