encouragement through tough times
He sat on the couch watching the box of unknown faces,
wondering if his situation would ever change.
Little did he know he would stop going places
when his primary means of respect had failed.

I sensed his hurt as I strolled through the door.
His life worth reduced? No, I refused to accept,
“I’ve always tried to be strong,” he said. “I can’t anymore.”
“Well, I can be strong for you. I’ve got your back.”

In tough times, between our hearts, love is tried.
All that remains is trust, strength, and peace.
He seemed to understand, then said with tears in his eyes,
“When all hope is gone, it gets very hard to see.”

His heartbeat echoes steady through his chest.
Nestled in the warmth of my love, I calm all his fears.
I believe in him and say, “You have always done your best.
Let me see for you, that is why I’m here.”
