Wash day blues.
Today is laundry day at my house
I have to wash the clothes
Of all the duties I have to do
This is my greatest woe

I would rather scrub the shower
Or mop the kitchen floor
Wash the dishes by the window, as
I watch the flowers grow.

I chase the little dust bunnies
That hide beneath the bed
Or clean the windows, Yes, I do them
So the sunlight can shine in

To make the bed, and change the sheets
Is not a major chore,
Vacuum the carpet and clean the spots,
Especially by the door.

But when it comes to laundry day
I just can’t see the fun.
The machines do most the work, and even
Call me when they’re done.

But sorting clothes, this from that
Add the Downey, now the Tide.
Hey, Spray and Wash doesn’t work on
Ring around the collar!

The noise is somewhat restful though
If you really listen close
The rhythm of the washer says
“Oh-boy, Oh-boy, Oh-boy.”

I guess its purpose is to please,
Wait! It did not spin
I have to go and check on it, oh me,
Forgot to close the lid!

So, now it’s done and put away
All neatly in the drawer,
The closet floor is empty too, and
I can close the door!
