EXT. NIGHTSKY - NIGHT

QUOTE CENTERED ON SCREEN: Wherefore let him that thinketh he
standeth take heed lest he fall. 1 Corinthians x. 12.

MAIN TITLE CENTERED ON SCREEN: SIGNAL
SOUND OF WIND CREEPS IN. Wind increases eventually tearing
MAIN TITLE APART. Vortex of wind spins around. CREDITS
APPEAR AND ARE SUBSEQUENTLY TORN AWAY BY WINDS.

A tempest of the grimmest black rises up, casting a shadow
over Jacob as he flees. He tries to escape, but it moves with
him, as if it had a mind of its own. It moves left and right
in rhythm with his hurried steps. He is swallowed up by its
darkness, deafened by its thrashing sound, petrified by its
approach. Tired and unable to continue Jacob stops, he knows
it is futile, he turns to greet its arrival. As it howls and
crashes into to him he screams in horror, and he is sucked
into its destructive vortex.

INT. JACOB’S HOUSE/MAIN BEDROOM - AFTERNOON

Jacob abruptly wakes to the sound of distant traffic.
Stunned, he lays for a moment, trying to ascertain whether he
was asleep or awake. Eventually realizing it was just another
dream, he sighs with relief, blinks vigorously to focus his
blurry vision. Jacob reaches to the floor, rubbing his
bloodshot eyes with one hand and groping with his other hand
in search of his cigarettes. He finds them and sits up in
bed.

JACOB
(Coughs)
Why do I do this to myself

coughing and spluttering he takes one and slips it into his
mouth. He sees it is well after noon and the curtains are
drawn, the room is dim and filled with moderate and sporadic
patches of light, and populated with useless clutter covered
with dust.
Yawning, he stands up, and rubs his head stabbing his
cigarette out on the head board.

INT. JACOB’S HOUSE/KITCHEN - AFTERNOON
Jacob stumbles into his tiny kitchen, arms stretched out, he
grasps the curtains and rips them open, sunlight bursts into
the kitchen, blinding him. He opens the fridge and takes out
the sole item in it, an aging carton of milk, and boils the
jug.
Sitting at his little table in his Lilliputian kitchen, he
drinks his coffee, staring aimlessly at the kitchen wall, the
clock ticks consistently with a torturous rhythm beating and
undulating with the traffic outside.

JACOB (V.O.)
My life was characterized by
agonizing repetition, each day a
copy of the last. I guess I had
given up, and the only person this
wasn’t abundantly clear to was me.
I lived in hopeless denial only
tending to my habitual needs,
closed off from the world,
regressing further into solitude,
surrendering to nothingness and
nowhere.

INT. JACOB’S HOUSE/LOUNGE - NIGHT
He enters his lounge, and closes the curtains, locks the
doors, and then fills his body with vile substances.

JACOB (V.O.)
I spent my days waiting for the sun
to relinquish its hold over the
earth, waiting for the night to
swallow up the day, hiding and
comforting me. I rejoiced at the
arrival of darkness, as the shadows
do hide a fools most commanding and
ruinous habits.

Jacob sits back on his dusty and stained couch escaping into
the moment, governed by the poisons coursing throughout his
limp and motionless body. His head falls back as he lets out
a sigh of gratification, he closes his eyes as its effect
rages on rendering him a slave to it.
Hours pass, his senses dull, and with his body spent, Jacob
eventually passes out.

EXT. DREAM STATE/NUCLEAR BOMBS AND EXODUS - NIGHT
He found himself walking in darkness. He looked up to see a
tree line, and above it a brilliant sky inhabited by a host
of stars. This sight gave him great contentment, he stood
gazing with awe. Suddenly there is a flash of light, then
the ground trembled, and Jacob threw
himself to the ground. As he looked skyward again he saw an
inexplicable sight: a mushroom cloud rose up, towering above
the tree line, red and orange cast against, and cutting into,
the night sky. He watched as it rose, Its dread, Its
unrelenting climb, and Its terrible finality. Terrified, he
lifted himself to his feet. His starry sky had been replaced
by hopelessness. He then turned to see a jaggered landscape
ripped open by the ravages of war. Approaching he saw a great
multitude of people moving towards him.
Their faces are blackened; they appeared a broken people,
each the same, sharing faces of despair and resignation. He
then saw a woman rising above the landscape, shining with so
many colors he couldn't recognize them all, stretching her
arms out towards the sky. He looked up and saw a face
looking back at him, a face of wisdom, Majesty and love.

INT. JACOB’S HOUSE/LOUNGE - NIGHT
Abruptly he wakes to his gloomy lounge, in shock he sits
awhile trying to understand what had just happened to him.
It was late, and although he was shaken by his apparent
vision, Jacob, still under the influence of pot, again drifts
off to sleep.

JACOB (V.O.)
It all began when I started having
these intense dreams. At first
they freaked the living hell out of
me. But I suppose I was afraid of
everything, even my own shadow.

I/E. JACOB’S HOME/CITY STREETS - DAY
He wakes early to a sunny and inviting day. Jacob has a sense
of vitality and need to venture out, something he never did.
As soon as he has woken fully, he departs. The streets are
busy and populated with people, usually he would feel uneasy,
alienated. But instead it doesn’t seem to trouble him. He
proceeds further and further away from his home. He has no
plan, no destination, only the will to put one foot ahead of
the other. He feels driven to just walk.

EXT. BUSY ARCADE - DAY
Eventually he arrives at a busy arcade swarming with people
enjoying the sun, and each others company. He decides to stay
awhile and have a look around. As he proceeds he sees a
tightly bunched group that appears to encircle a man that is
speaking to them, Jacob decides to go over and have a closer
look. As he gets closer he sees an elderly man, strict in
appearance like a school master, and he is speaking to the
crowd. The old man speaks with authority, holding a bible in
one hand and motioning with the other.

ELDERLY PREACHER
What is it that makes a man better
than what he is? Is it the clothes
that he wears, is it the knowledge
that he gains, is it the charitable
acts that he performs? I venture it
is none of these things, and that
only pain, only sacrifice, improves
the man and makes him whole.

The crowd appears despondent, some are seemingly riled by the
old man's comments.

ELDERLY PREACHER (CONT'D)
And sacrifice is the greatest
expression of love!

The elderly preacher steps forward scanning the faces of the
crowd, apparently looking for a response. He then puffs his
chest out and points his finger skyward.

ELDERLY PREACHER (CONT'D)
Everyone enters this world with
nothing and leaves with nothing
accept character born from
adversity, one must lose everything
to gain anything of any value!

Jacob juggles and pushes his way to the front of the crowd,
he has become aroused by the old man's words.

ELDERLY PREACHER (CONT'D)
Why do you all look at me like
that?... In the near future there
will be those who will be slaves to
their own fears, and others...

The preacher sees Jacob looking on and his expression of
agitation is replaced by kindness.

ELDERLY PREACHER (CONT'D)
...and there will be others that
will serve our Father in Heaven.

The preacher continues speaking, with Jacob absorbing every
word.

JACOB (V.O.)
As I stood there for almost two
hours, my feelings of confinement
and self-loathing were placed in
the back of my mind as I grew
increasingly more mindful of the
old man's inspirational words. In
the past I never placed much stock
in religious stuff, but in this
instance I felt compelled to *
listen. The old man was so clear
when explaining things, and he held
my attention firing his curiosity.
(breathes deeply)
I felt motivated by the old mans
words, inspired to make positive
changes in my life. It was as if
the preacher freed me from my
doubt, and my defeatist way of
thinking. The way the preacher
stared at me as if solely speaking
to me alone, it edified me. It
lifted me up and made me dream of
possibilities that my own mind
alone had not, and could not
consider. I had always believed in
God, but I had never believed God.
On this day, in this crowded arcade
I started to believe the words of
the Bible, to accept them. This
caused me to feel a joy I had never
experienced, and a fear.

Before long the crowd becomes quite unsettled. The people
shift about with some spitting insults at the old man.
Eventually the crowd disperses and the old man nods at Jacob
seemingly communicating an understanding of something Jacob
had no awareness of. The old preacher walks off, leaving him
standing alone in the now deserted arcade. Having been out
for much of the day he begins his long walk home, from where
he had traveled a great distance from.

EXT. CITY STREETS - DUSK AND NIGHT
As he walks, the daylight rapidly diminishes, soon it was
night. The night being something that once comforted Jacob
now unsettles him, he quickly picks up the pace. He marches
ever faster, with the loud sound of his feet scuffing the
pavement. The streets are empty apart from the odd car
passing by in the distance.

JACOB
I was becoming increasingly
anxious, peering through the
darkness for some familiar
landmark, I continued on probing
the darkness with my eyes, fearful
of what could be hidden by it. As I
soldiered on, suddenly I heard
something approaching, its sound
elicited great apprehension.

He stops frozen, unable to determine a course of action. As
it grows closer, he realizes it was coming from the other
side of the road

JACOB (V.O.) (CONT'D)
As I listened, I recognized its
familiar sound. I could hear
panting, and the sound of four
little feet, and although it was
shrouded with darkness I knew it
was dog. This eased my fears and I
continued on.

Looking up, the night sky was sullen and offered no comfort
to Jacob as he rushes aggressively towards his destination.
Not a single star was visible only murky and darkened clouds.
Ahead of him he sees light.

EXT. CITY STREETS/SHOPS - NIGHT
As he approaches he finds a small collection of shops. All
the shops are closed but are lit up, offering him a short
reprieve from the daunting and intimidating darkness.

JACOB (V.O.)
This calmed my nerves, and I was
finally able to rationalize where I
was and how I would get home. I
realized I was quite close, only
minutes away. So boldly I struck
out into the night once more, this
time with a sense of assurance that
I would soon be home.

EXT. JACOB’S STREET - NIGHT
Before long he comes to his street, he is so relieved that he
runs haphazardly through the blinding darkness towards his
home. With the cool air of night crashing past his face, he
lunges and runs with the jittery image of his house growing
larger in his vision.

EXT. JACOB’S HOUSE/FRONT GATE - NIGHT
As he arrives he stops at his gate and looks up at the sky.

JACOB (V.O.)
I felt strangely comforted by the
dark and forbidding night, now that
I had reached the safety of my
home. I knew then that I was a
creature, filled with fear. I was
hopeless out in the real world. A
few moments in the real world and I
was ready to curl up in a ball, and
cry like a baby. Getting home that
night was the best feeling and the
worst feeling.

He goes inside, his heart is leaping with anticipation, he is
looking forward to relaxing and escaping after his long and
eventful day.

I/E. JACOB’S STREET AND HOUSE/BEDROOM - DAY
The city reeks with activity as people go about their usual
routine. Traffic barrels past, the misty vapors of car
exhaust hugs the lampposts, and smog rises up filtering the
sunlight. Jacob's street is abuzz. With people coming and
going, almost every house is active, from a man appeasing his
whining dog to another washing his car. Jacob's house stands
alone as if enveloped with shadows; not a single curtain is
open nor is there a sound. As the world rushes by, his house
seems frozen in time; with barely a single crack to permit
the sunlight in. Inside Jacob sleeps, as if a vampire
avoiding the light of day. curled up in a deep slumber hoppedup
on a generous dose of pot, hibernating, waiting dormant
for the Sun to draw back and grant access to the night.

INT. JACOB’S HOUSE/BEDROOM
Soon after the Sun had retreats he wakes. Dazed from his
previous night's escapades and lacking the drive and will to
even lift his head. He knows it was time to get up; the
traffic outside is dull and uneventful, and his room is
darkened with no hint of light. Eventually he sits up. He
grips his head sighing deeply, he feels miserable,
deplorable, assaulted by the ravages of want, his head stings
and his body feels powerless.

JACOB (V.O.)
As I stood up that morning I
thought the only remedy was a
needle or a pipe, I seemingly
unaware it was both the source and
cure of his ills.
Little did I know that it was from
this day onward that my life was
going to change forever.

INT. JACOB’S HOUSE/HALL AND LOUNGE - DUSK AND NIGHT
Leaving his room he staggers down the hall and enters the
lounge in search of his instruments of habit. Finding his
pipe, stained and clogged with resin, he quickly proceeds to
stuff it with yellowish buds, sweet and sticky, eliciting a
sigh of relief and the rapid beating of his heart.
Holding it up to his mouth with one hand, and lighting a
match with the other, he hurries the flame to his pipe,
driving and stabbing the match into the solid yellow mass. He
breathes in with all his strength making sure not to waste
any, and then holds it in.
Jacob's face shakes and quivers as he retains the smoke in
his lungs, his skin grows red, then purple, as he holds it
in. He strains his face and forces a smile as the drug began
to take effect, as he grows light-heated he bellows it out
stepping back with a sense of euphoria.
Again he fills his lungs with its vile sweetness, and again,
until his senses, his mind, are clouded and shut off from
reality, he then sinks into his chair.

JACOB (V.O.)
This was my life, I was so content,
so relieved that I felt normal once
again.

INT. JACOB’S HOUSE/LOUNGE - NIGHT
Jacob sits watching television, he has glazed eyes and an
exceedingly lazy posture.

JACOB (V.O.)
I usually spent the night watching
television amused and inspired by
the most mundane detail. In these
images I found a world not stained
by, nor burdened by me, but
another, someone else I would much
rather be. I flew to the stars and
consoled my lover, I fought with
bravery and slew the beast, I
existed in thought alone,
assimilating the images and making
them my own. As I felt his grip on
normality slip, again I filled my
body with smoke, liberating myself
back to a state of bliss.

Jacob puts the pipe in his mouth. As he sucks in the fumes
his eyes are like saucers focusing intently on the screen;
desperate not to miss a thing.

JACOB (V.O.) (CONT'D)
But all good things must come to an
end.

Tiring from his inactivity, listless, he gets up from his
chair disorientated and flops down onto the couch, his active
and relentless mind pacified and spent offers no opposition
and he quickly drifts off.

INT. JACOB’S HOUSE/LOUNGE - DEAD OF NIGHT
Before long Jacob wakes to the sensation of icy hands
grasping his face, exhausted and incoherent he brushes his
fingers over his face, suddenly he feels pinching on his arm,
this wakes him fully and he sits up.

JACOB
Who’s there

Looking around the room with concern. He sees nothing but
smoke hugging the ground and his lamp casting menacing
shadows on the wall, apprehensive he lays back and being so
tired he begins to drift off.
However soon he feels a cold breeze pass by his neck and then
a hand pulls at his right arm. In fright he jumps up and
looks intently at the couch, there is nothing there.

JACOB (CONT'D)
What the hell is going on

He sits down and there he remains for over an hour scanning
the room, to afraid to once again lay down and try and get
some sleep, eventually his tired body gets the best of him
and he passes out.

INT. JACOB’S HOUSE/LOUNGE - EVENING AND NIGHT
He wakes to the bustling sounds of commuters. It is early
evening, and everyone IS returning home from a busy day at
work.
he is raising a pipe to his lips; with hopes of repeating the
glee and serenity he experienced the night before. However
not long after he had his first pipe he realized that he had
none left.

INT. JACOB’S HOUSE/KITCHEN - NIGHT
Confident he could find some more he scans the kitchen bench
and table.

INT. JACOB’S HOUSE/LOUNGE - NIGHT
With this he had no luck, so, he proceeds to search draws,
cupboards, and furniture. EVERY INCH OF THE LOUNGE FLOOR.
Pretty soon he realizes that there is none to be found.

ONE HOUR LATER. He gives up.

TWO HOURS LATER. By now he is frantic only capable of
thinking where he could find dope. He sits in his chair
steering into space his leg twitching and his eyes shifting
back and forth.

TWO HOURS LATER. It is four a.m. Jacob sits motionless,
catatonic, his mind governed by hopeless thoughts, dread and
intense anger, he feels the bite of reality creeping in,
assaulting his senses, it is unbearable.
Desperate he grabs his pipe and with a rusty pin scraps the
sticky and repugnant resin out of its hollow bowels; he then
wipes the resin onto a piece of tinfoil he finds nearby.
He breathes deeply and prepares himself, then takes a flame
to the tinfoil. The globs of resin bubble and then smolder,
quickly he inhales its smoke as it drifts wildly in all
directions. He holds it in with a disgusted look on his
face, nauseated and sickened he spits the smoke out, gasping
for air with the taste of garbage in his mouth.

TEN MINUTES LATER. The resin gives him some reprieve, and
for a short time he feels better, but soon this wears off and
he finds himself once again savoring the resin's bitter and
intolerable taste.

ONE HOUR LATER. Like usual, to apathetic to walk to his
bedroom, he collapses onto the couch and then quickly passes
out

INT. JACOB’S HOUSE/LOUNGE - DEAD OF NIGHT
FOUR HOURS LATER. Jacob wakes with a stinging headache.
Feeling sick he stumbled out of the lounge.

INT. JACOB’S HOUSE/BATHROOM - DEAD OF NIGHT
Upon bursting into the bathroom he disgorges his previous
night's dinner.

JACOB
That damn tinfoil

INT. JACOB’S HOUSE/MAIN BEDROOM - DEAD OF NIGHT
Weakened he retires to his bedroom, and cautiously lays down
careful not to ignite another visit to the bathroom.

INT. JACOB’S BEDROOM - EVENING
Jacob wakes the next night knowing, as he opens his eyes that
he faced a long night of withdrawal; he lays in bed depressed
and painfully alert. He eventually gets up.

INT. JACOB’S KITCHEN - NIGHT
To his utter dismay he finds an empty fridge, he must have
devoured the last of the milk and just can't remember, Jacob
slams the fridge shut in anger and proceeds to make a coffee.

JACOB
This is all I need.

Spilling water on the floor he curses.

JACOB (CONT'D)
You're just useless!! stupid bloody
thing!!".

He takes his coffee and sits at the kitchen table. He sits
steering down into his coffee, demoralized, dispirited,
agonizing over the singular desire that he could not fulfill,
he tries to think of something else, but everything he thinks
of is promptly supplanted by his anxious yearning, his
unyielding longing to escape into drugs.

JACOB (CONT'D)
Why am I like this?

Standing he wipes his eyes.

JACOB (CONT'D)
Why am I like this God?

He stands in the middle of his kitchen looking up as if
waiting for a response.

JACOB (CONT'D)
Why won't you help me, can't you
see I'm in pain?

Jacob stands with an expectant look on his face, his hands on
his hips. He grinds his teeth and begins shouting.

JACOB (CONT'D)
Go to hell!! that's where you want
me, hell? You go to hell, do you
hear me!!!

Jacob quickly walks to the kitchen table and swipes his
boiling hot coffee into the wall; it smashes with pieces
flying everywhere. He then takes a chair and slams it against
the wall shattering it to splinters.

INT. JACOB’S HOUSE/HALLWAY - NIGHT
In a rage he storms into the hall and punches a hole in the
wall.

INT. JACOB’S HOUSE/LOUNGE - NIGHT
He enters the lounge, falls to the ground and curls up into a
cradle position on the floor.
Jacob lays on the floor for what seems like hours, curled up
in the cradle position, sobbing in anger, in distress,
muttering incoherently. His spirit is broken and his
thoughts to painful, his body calling for a fix.
He eventually gets up, and, with a total lack of enthusiasm
he lays down on the couch hoping to sleep and escape.

ONE HOUR LATER. However sleep he does not, instead he lays
steering at the ceiling and the shadows on the wall. His body
is fatigued, but still he lay unable to drift off; with his
thoughts being so painfully clear, his mind so unclouded.

PASSAGE OF TIME. Days pass and still he can not sleep. The
pressure on his body is becoming greater and this is
increased by his anxiety; his chest is tight and his heart
thumped like a stumbling elephant. He can’t feel his hands
they are numb, and although the room is heated he grew
increasing colder.

DISSOLVE TO:

PASSAGE OF TIME. If he did sleep it is only for a moment; he
wakes gasping for air, clutching his chest and whimpering,
his skin is wet and chilled, his eyesight is failing him.

INT. JACOB’S HOUSE/MAIN BEDROOM - NIGHT
Jacob lays up in his bed covered with heavy blankets, as if
compressed under heavy iron sheets. He appears resigned;
somber unwilling and unable to protest, he just lays there.

JACOB (V.O.)
This was one of the most painful
experiences of my life. I wished
for death. I was hurting. Hurting
in every way a man could hurt.

With his little strength he speaks

JACOB (CONT'D)
God, please help me, I know I don't
deserve it, but I really (weeping)
REALLY need your help.

He pauses with a needy expression on his gaunt face.

JACOB (CONT'D)
God?

PASSAGE OF TIME. He continues on praying, whispering to God
under his breath, closing his eyes.
Suddenly Jacob opens his eyes and speaks with a forced
whisper.

JACOB (CONT'D)
Help

Breathing heavily he repeats

JACOB (CONT'D)
Help

Jacob lifts his head and looks to the ceiling and begins
chanting louder and louder.

JACOB (CONT'D)
Help, Help, Help, Help.

Overcome he falls backward and passes out.
ONE MINUTE LATER. He wakes unable to breathe. He feels a
weight on his chest, he tries to move but he can’t, it is as
if he was wrapped up in a blanket. He then tries to speak
but something is covering his mouth, he tries to look but his
eyes are held shut.
He is terrified, struggling and fighting but to no avail.
Suddenly a blast of ice cold energy rushes up his throat and
blasts into his face, he can smell an awful stench, the smell
of decay, and he freezes with fear.
As he lays helpless, he hears a chorus of voices speaking, he
can’t understand the language it is unfamiliar to him. The
chorus gets louder and louder eventually shouting directly
into his face.

JACOB (V.O.) (CONT’D)
I thought help me God, help me God

His mouth is uncovered and he cries.

JACOB (CONT'D)
Help me God

Suddenly it is all over. He is left laying there covered,
drenched in an ice cold sweat, he is paralyzed, searching the
darkened room with his eyes.
He scans the room for a long time, absolutely petrified of
what might be lurking beyond his field of vision. After a
while he decides that it was over so he settles in and closes
his eyes.

EXT. DREAM STATE/DESTRUCTION OF EARTH - NIGHT
Suddenly Jacob finds himself standing on his front door step
looking out at the night sky. As he looks he notices
something in the corner of his eye, he turns to see five
figures glowing with a brilliant light; displaying many
colors some unfamiliar. He feels the need to run to them, so
he does; as he arrives they all disappear. At that moment he
looks up and sees the stars, and the earth is knocked off it
axis. The stars streak on an acute angle, the shadows of
plants and trees, on the wall nearby, seem to bend and
distort. He then turns to see many people running and
panicking; he looks to see what they are running from and
sees a terrifying sight. A wall of fire a thousand miles
high is crashing towards him, it glows bright and speeds
relentlessly toward him, there is no escape, Jacob stands
waiting for it to hit.
As it arrives he looks up and calmly speaks.

JACOB
Heaven

He then finds himself orbiting the earth looking down on Its
continued destruction.

INT. JACOB’S HOUSE/MAIN BEDROOM - DAY
Jacob wakes. It is daylight outside, perplexed he sits up and
peers over at his clock, it is after noon; he had been asleep
for eighteen hours.

JACOB
Thank you God, Thank you (weeps).

I/E. JACOB’S HOUSE - DAY
It is a shining day. There isn’t a single cloud in the sky,
and the breeze gently sounds against the weather boards of
Jacob's home; singing as it presses by with a soothing and
calming effect. Jacob, still a bit weakened, roams about the
house opening the windows to let the warm air in. He is
happy, and he had not been happy for a very long time, he
looks up out the window smiling in appreciation of this
glorious day.

JACOB (V.O.)
I was a changed man since I escaped
the consuming and overwhelming hold
of my addiction. I was a changed
man since the experiences I had.
My days had become orderly, each
day after the next I marched on,
with a singular goal set firmly in
my mind, normality. It had been
many months since my ordeal, and
the scars of my previous life still
pained me, and were slow to heal.
Everyday I read the Bible, scanning
its pages with enthusiasm, I found
much in its pages to encourage,
guide and mend my broken spirit.

INT. JACOB’S HOUSE/LOUNGE - DAY
He is giving the lounge a good clean, it is still coated with
dust, and there are still many remnants of his past life
scattered about.
He picks up ashtrays overflowing with musty smelling butts;
he casts them into a plastic bag as he continues searching
for more offending items. He finds tinfoil, pins coated with
resin, and scores of empty wrappers and soft drink cans.

JACOB (V.O.)
I worked fast and the lounge
rapidly transformed, removing the
evidence and easing my memory of a
life spent in consumption and
degeneracy.

As he continues he hears a voice. Jacob turns and sees his
landlord standing inside the open front door.
His landlord is a grossly over-weight man, his skin pink and
blotchy, and his forearms covered with faded green tattoos.
The landlord with a grim and forbidding look speaks.

LANDLORD
Finally I managed to get hold of
you.

The landlord steps forward invading Jacob's personal space.

LANDLORD (CONT'D)
I knock and you never answer your
door, I've been trying to reach you
for months. You have not paid me
rent for as long as I can remember.
Now I can see you're cleaning this
place up, and I appreciate that,
but I'm afraid it is too little to
late.

The landlord circles around the room looking up at the
ceiling.

LANDLORD (CONT'D)
I could get a pretty descent rent
for this place, so I'm evicting you

Jacob's heart sinks, he doesn’t know how to respond, he just
stands there steering at the floor, the landlord stops pacing
and places his hands on his hips.

LANDLORD (CONT'D)
I'm afraid that's the reality of
life, if you had of responded to me
earlier we might have worked things
out, but you didn't respond did
you.

The landlord stands steering at him waiting for a response.
Jacob stands looking past the landlord still unable to speak,
the landlord looks to the ground and sighs.

LANDLORD (CONT'D)
Well that's it then, I'll give you
seven days.
I could just throw you out if I
wanted, but, you've got seven days.
Sorry Burrows but I need to rent
this place out to someone who is
actually willing to pay.

The landlord pauses.

LANDLORD (CONT'D)
Right I'm off, I'll contact you in
a few days.

Landlord leaves. Jacob stands in the middle of the lounge
motionless, steering ahead with a blank look on his face.

JACOB (V.O.)
For what felt like an eternity I
stood there, a thousand thoughts
rushed through my mind. What would
I do? Where would I go? How would
I pay for it? Am I ready; am I
even capable of moving on? I had
lived in the same house for six
years, before that I lived with my
parents. I wasn't a worldly
person, I didn't know what a job
was, or how to get one, and I felt
totally inadequate for the task
ahead of me.

Sitting down he ruminates as to his course of action.

JACOB (V.O.) (CONT'D)
I had no friends, my family had
disowned me, and I had no idea what
to do. So I did something that I
had never done before, I got down
on my knees and spoke aloud to God.

He kneels on the floor.

JACOB (CONT'D)
God, I don't know what to do?
Please help me. I know I've never
prayed to you before, not like
this, but please I ask for your
mercy and your help, please tell me
what to do.

PASSAGE OF TIME. He kneels waiting, listening for a
response, but nothing. He continues praying for a while
longer, appealing to God for His help.

Emotionally spent he eventually gives up. Standing he walks
over to close the front door and a woman walks up.

I/E. JACOB’S HOUSE/LOUNGE AND FRONT DOOR STEP - DAY
On the door step stands a bright-faced lady with clear blue
eyes; she stands with a perplexed look on her face, holding
the tip of her chin.

ANN
Hi. Sorry to bother you but I've
lost my dog, he's a little yappy
thing you can't miss him, you
haven't seen him at all have you?
He answers to the name of Thomas.

Jacob politely responds.

JACOB
No sorry I haven't seen him.

The friendly woman clenches her fist. She responds. As she
speaks she glances into Jacob's lounge and sees that he is
cleaning, his lounge is populated with plastic bags and
buckets, and some cardboard boxes on the couch.

ANN
Damn, he's always running off.

She looks at him with a questioning look on her face.

ANN (CONT'D)
Hmm are you moving out are you?

Jacob looks over his shoulder and glumly responds.

JACOB
Looks like it...

The woman looks at him with a needy look in her eyes.

ANN
I guess you've already got a new
place have you? Somewhere you're
moving to?

Jacob snaps his head back looking at her with surprise and
eagerly responds.

JACOB
No actually I have not yet found a
new place.

The woman quickly responds.

ANN
Well I've got this place, it’s a
little way out of the city.
I've needed to fix it up for sooo
long, now it's not a palace, but
it's yours if you're willing?

Jacob with a depressed look on his face responds.

JACOB
I can't pay you anything, I don't
have any money.

The woman smiles and leans forward.

ANN
Look I don't want any rent, I just
want someone in the place, it has
been empty for so long. If you
like you can pay me rent by tidying
up the place, trust me it's in a
hell of a state.

Jacob nods in agreement, trying his best not to let his
intense excitement spill out and reveal how thrilled he is.
The woman appears pleased and then speaks rapidly.

ANN (CONT'D)
Great! I'll bring the keys and the
address over to you later on
tonight, by the way my name is Ann,
isn't it great how chance
encounters can be so profitable,
you got a new home, I got someone
to take a place that has been
sitting dormant for years. Now the
day would be absolutely perfect if
I could just find that naughty
little dog.

EXT. JACOB’S HOUSE/FRONT PATH - DAY
Ann walks down the path calling for her dog and then turns to
Jacob.

ANN
Bye, I'll see you later tonight.

Jacob waves and watches her walk out the gate. Then he
quickly walks out of SHOT headed for his bedroom.

INT. JACOB’S HOUSE/MAIN BEDROOM - DAY
He rips his clothes out of the draws, and takes all his
belongings and crams them into a few boxes.

INT. JACOB’S HOUSE/SPARE ROOM - DAY
He digs through his piled up belongings like he was
excavating, the deeper he gets the further back in his life
he goes. The layers of his life are revealed and they paint
a pretty ugly picture.

INT. JACOB’S HOUSE/LOUNGE - DUSK
He sits down in the lounge to rest from his frantic ordeal.
Ann arrives at the door, and enters the lounge.

ANN
Hi!!! It's me; here are the keys
and the address.

She hands them to Jacob.

ANN (CONT'D)
You should be able to get there by
bus but if you have a car, even
better. The phone is on in the
house, so I'll give you a call next
week and see how you've settled in.
Thanks for doing this I really
appreciate it.

Jacob gives Ann a kind look and responds.

JACOB
No, thank you, you are a savior,
I'll do my best to look after the
place.

Ann smiles nodding.

ANN
Not a problem. You know that dog
of mine was under the bed the whole
time (laughs). I hope everything
works out for you.. Sorry what was
your name?

Jacob eagerly responds

JACOB
Jacob!

Ann nods.

ANN
O.k. Jacob, It was very nice
meeting you, and we'll speak in the
near future, good luck, bye.

Ann leaves waving excessively. Jacob smiling waves back, she
walks out of view and Jacob looks up at the ceiling.

INT. JACOB’S HOUSE/MAIN BEDROOM - MORNING
The next day he wakes to the still sound of an early morning.
The birds are chirping, seemingly aware of Jacob's joy and
applying theme music to it.
He rises quickly, expecting the moving people to arrive and
take his boxes away.

INT. JACOB’S HOUSE/LOUNGE AND FRONT DOOR - DAY
There is a knock at the door, he quickly answers. Two
delivery men are at the door.

EXT. JACOB’S HOUSE/THE ROAD - DAY
He helps the two large and cordial men carry his belongings
out to the truck. He watches the truck depart.

INT. JACOB’S HOUSE/MAIN BEDROOM - DAY
Jacob walks around empty bedroom, looking glum.

JACOB (V.O.)
Suddenly a sense of sadness came
over me; for so many years I had
lived there. I wandered around
looking at the rooms; they seemed
oddly foreign to me, with blank
walls and echoing sounds.

EXT. JACOB’S HOUSE/FRONT DOOR - DAY
Closing the front door he took one last look and spoke.

JACOB
Goodbye house...

EXT. JACOB’S STREET - DAY
As he walks down the road the wind picks up, blowing his hair
over his face. His heart pounds harder and harder as he
proceeds further and further away from his home, and his
past.

He sees the street in a way he had never seen it before, the
light seems to shine and reflect off everything giving it a
pleasing glow.

I/E. BUS AND COUNTRYSIDE - NIGHT
The stars shimmer, and sparkle, lighting up a clear night
sky. The bus follows a darkened and moonlit road, and the
driver announces they are nearing Jacob's destination.

BUS DRIVER (O.S.)
We are five minutes away from
Albans Park.

Jacob looks out the window and sees the silhouettes of trees
beyond his own interfering reflection. The bus rattles and
hums, and is to hot, he is looking forward to arriving.

EXT. COUNTRY ROAD - NIGHT
The bus arrives. He jumps out to a single platform; he sees
nothing in every direction. It is as if he is trapped within
a void, and the only evidence of life is the lights of the
bus growing faint in the distance.
Exhausted from his journey he begins another one. He follows
the road, and for a while he thinks he might have gone in the
wrong direction, just when his doubts and fears were
asserting themselves he comes to an old wooden letter box.

JACOB (V.O.)
I was so relieved, number 17,
sounded like a good omen.

EXT. NUMBER 17’S PATH - NIGHT
He proceeds down a long path; it is twisted and distorted and
lined with ancient trees. At times it is barely visible with
tall grass and fallen trees blocking his way, it is obvious
the path has not been used for a very long time.

EXT. NUMBER 17 - NIGHT
He comes to a slight rise, and as he walks over it he arrives
at a large old house, it is run down but appears to be quite
nice.

I/E. NUMBER 17 - NIGHT
The house sits in a clearing, and is revealed by the
moonlight. It is surrounded by decking; it has many large
windows, and a heavy wooden door.
Jacob proceeds up a series of steps fashioned with rocks and
stones, and then across the wide decking to the front door.
Unable to see he scratches and rattles the key into the large
rusty lock, and with a descent shove the door jolts open,
creaking as it went.
As it opened he is assaulted with a gust of stale air.

INT. NUMBER 17 - NIGHT
He is presented with a darkened hallway; he fumbles about
searching for the light switch. Upon turning on the light he
sees a nicely decorated hallway that has six doors leading
off it.

INT. NUMBER 17/SITTING ROOM - NIGHT
He walks in to find a tidy sitting room. He stands with a
smile on his face happy with his new home.

I/E. NUMBER 17/MAIN BEDROOM - MORNING
Jacob wakes the next day to a multitude of sounds; singing
birds and the high pitch rubbing of crickets.
He opens his eyes to a flash of sunlight flooding his room;
he sits up shielding his face with his arm.
Excited he leaps out of bed and looks out his window, which
was of a monumental size. Outside he sees a stupefying
sight; woodland surrounds the house with tall trees and wild
gardens. The undergrowth gleamed with due reflecting the
warm morning light, in the distance he hears the trickling of
a peaceful stream, it is breath-taking. Jacob stands with
awe looking out at the inspiring landscape, its beauty, its
verdancy, untouched by the embellishments of man.

EXT. NUMBER 17/PATH AND MAIN ROAD - DAY
He wanders down the path and comes to the road; he now sees
that he has neighbors close by, and what appears to be a park
across the road. It is a wonderfully peaceful place, with
only the sounds of trees swaying in the wind, and the sound
of birds pushing themselves through the air.

EXT. MAIN ROAD - DAY
As he walks further a man is approaching, with him he carries
a large collection of books under his arm. As they meet the
man greets Jacob with a smile.

DAVID
Hello haven't seen you around here
before.

Jacob stops and smiles back.

JACOB
I arrived yesterday, I live in the
old house at number 17.
The man eagerly responds.

DAVID
Ah yes Ann's old house, well it's
good to meet you, I'm David. I'm
the local historian, poet, writer,
I just love books, as you might
have noticed (chuckles).

David drops a book and motions to pick it up, Jacob kneels
down and grabs it.

JACOB
Yes I can see that, I'm Jacob, and
it's good to meet you.

DAVID
I'd be glad to show you around some
time, if you like, I live at number
26, it's not far from here.

JACOB
That would be great, it's such a
wonderful place isn't it, I'm not
use to it, and living in a city
sure deprives you. It's just
perfect out here.

DAVID
That's why I stay, it's a great
environment to get the creative
juices flowing, do you read? Are
you a writer?

JACOB
No I'm not much of either, although
I do read the Bible everyday.

DAVID
Well that's a book alright
(laughs), look I have to go but
I'll come over some time, and hang
out?

Jacob nods with an agreeable look on his face.

JACOB
Yeh that would be great, really
good to have seen a friendly face,
I'll se you later, good luck with
your writing.

They part company; Jacob watches David journey up the road
occasionally readjusting his grip on his books so as not to
drop them.

NT. NUMBER 17/MAIN BEDROOM - NIGHT
He lays back in bed, looking out at the stars, he has a front
row seat staring out his titanic window, slowly he drifts off
sighing with contentment.

NT. DREAM STATE/TERROR IN SITTING ROOM - DAY
He finds himself swirling around, flashes of color and light
speed past, he can hear the murmuring of voices,
disorientated he opens his eyes.
He finds himself in his sitting room, in the corner is a
large and modern television; the room is modestly populated
with furniture.
Standing with his back to him is a short man looking out the
window, he feels intense anxiety, and the television blares
adding to his tension.
He knows that he is in danger, but is frozen with fear; he
glances at the television and sees the grim face of a news
reader, declaring a warning of some kind.
Suddenly a shot rings out, Jacob leaps to the floor, with
sweat dripping down his face and stinging his eyes. He looks
across to see the short man laying dead slumped up against
the wall and the coach.
His fears intensify, he knew they were coming, he was in
great danger. Without warning the front door of the house is
thrust open and the sound of heavy boots sound and echo
against the old wooden floor.
Jacob runs to the dead man's body and drags it over him,
concealing him between the wall and the coach.
The sitting room door is bashed open, and in walk three men
dressed all in black.
In their hands they hold modern looking guns, sleek and
black. Jacob shakes with fright
watching as they investigate the room. They do only a cursory
search, checking to see that the short man was dead. Jacob
peers out at them as they stand only feet away, they speak
another language, and he recognizes it but can’t place it.
A voice yells out apparently calling to them to move on and
they leave as quickly as they had arrived.

NT. JACOB’S BEDROOM - NIGHT
Jacob wakes covered in sweat. It is nearing dawn so he gets
up.

EXT. NUMBER 17/PATH - DAY
Jacob walks down the path from his house, David appears.

DAVID
Greetings, I came over cause I
thought you might like to have a
look around today?

JACOB
That's just what I was planning to
do...

Jacob pauses and looks up at the sky, shielding his face with
his hand.

JACOB (CONT'D)
It's such a wonderful day for it.

DAVID
Great, lets go over to Billingson
Bush, you know the park across the
road, it's got some nice places to
hide and relax.

EXT. MAIN ROAD AND PARK ENTRANCE - DAY
Both Jacob and David leave and cross the road entering the
parks entrance.

EXT. BILLINGSON PARK/WORN PATH - DAY
Beyond the freshly mowed lawns and boxed in hedges they walk
down a heavily worn path. Around them is a glorious sight,
there are great islands of moss inhabited by giant and
ancient trees.
The sunlight pierces through the canopy as if puncturing
holes through the trees. It is like a majestic dream with
light and shadow.

EXT. BILLINGSON PARK/CLEARING - DAY
THEY WALK INTO SHOT into the clearing. There is a felled
tree covered with moss, the light permeates all around and
they sit looking up at the cloudy sky.

JACOB
Isn’t it great, God makes some
amazing things.

DAVID
Well.. Yes that if you believe in
that sort of thing.

JACOB
Oh.. I thought you did, sorry.. I
know people tend to get annoyed by
this sort of talk.

Jacob sticks his head down, and plays with a blade of grass.

DAVID
No bother Jacob, you can talk about
what ever you want. I know your
not trying to convert me. Sometimes
I believe, sort of, don’t really
think about it much..

JACOB
All the same I know what its like,
people talking at you..

Jacob looks across at a group of trees nearby.

JACOB (CONT'D)
This is a really nice place.
David looks at Jacob and smiles.

DAVID
That’s why I come here, hey Jacob,
your pretty polite, and I
appreciate that. But you can say
what ever you want. Don’t let me
stop you, I’d hate to think I’m
restricting you or something...

Jacob turns to David with a cheeky smile on his face.

JACOB
This is a really nice place, God
really knows how to make em.

David laughs.

DAVID
He surely does.

INT. NUMBER 17/SITTING ROOM - NIGHT
It was a balmy night, Jacob and David sit watching television
in Jacob's sitting room.
As they watch the news comes on, the presenter sat announcing
all the bad news in the world, smiling as if indifferent and
unaware of the nature of his words.
Tensions were rising in the Middle East he said, with
American and Europe taking a more aggressive stance. They
see images of war, of people thrust from their homes and
their lives. David yawns and gestures to Jacob.

DAVID
This has been going on for
thousands of years, they will never
stop fighting.

JACOB
Well of course I see it a bit
differently, I see all this ending
soon, of course I can't say when.

DAVID
I just think they will still be
going at it long after we're dead.

JACOB
I just think things are going to
change soon, I feel like something
is brewing.

DAVID
No one can predict the future
Jacob, but one thing is certain
none of them would be stupid enough
to drop those bombs.

JACOB
Bombs? You mean nuclear bombs?

DAVID
Yeh they just have them as a show
of force, you know, what do they
call it.. a deterrent.

JACOB
It will happen, it's just a matter
of time, and even if only one is
detonated, the whole world will be
facing a disaster.

DAVID
Bah that's so negative.

David sits looking away screwing up his face.

JACOB
I'm being realistic not negative,
It's not like I want it to happen.

DAVID
Lets just wait and see, but I think
the future will be just the same.

JACOB
I find it difficult to think that
way.

A bit annoyed with one another they continue watching
television. As they watched the show was interrupted by a
news flash.

On the screen a news reader appears, his face absent of his
usual inappropriate smile, his eyes wander as if waiting for
his queue then he speaks.

NEWS PRESENTER
We have just received alarming
reports from the Middle East.

They both sit up with anticipation.

NEWS PRESENTER (CONT'D)
Hebron has suffered an attack by an
unknown terrorist group. It is
thought at this early time that a
device was used that processed
nuclear components. The ring of
fire from its blast has decimated
the area, many have lost their
lives.

Jacob stands up, shaking; he looks over to David who is
steering intently at the screen.
He, as if in a dream looks down at the television as the
presenter continues.

NEWS PRESENTER (CONT'D)
The President of the United States
has placed our military on alert;
he has asked for calm, and does not
believe that there will be anymore
attacks.

A speech from the President comes on.

AMERICAN PRESIDENT
This government believes without
any doubt that this terrible and
unforgivable act is isolated,
please remain calm, I will do my
best to make sure we find those
responsible and make efforts to
free the world from such threats.

Jacob walks over to the window and then turns to David.

JACOB
This is far more serious than they
think, I can feel it.

DAVID
You heard the man, it's probably
just a isolated incident, some
freak attack!

JACOB
I need some fresh air, I'll be back
soon.

Jacob leaves

EXT. BILLINGSON PARK - NIGHT
Jacob’s mind is chaotic, he searches for somewhere to sit but
it is far to dark, he can’t see.
He knows something is imminent, pulling at his hair and
kicking clods along the ground, he wandered deeper into the
park. Before long he finds himself in total darkness, he decides to
go back, with his arms screeched out he fumbles along anxious
he might crash into a tree, or fall into a ditch. He looks
up and sees the silhouettes of trees above him.
Dead ahead of him he sees the line of trees that mark the
main entrance of the park. As he uses the trees as his guide he notices the brilliant night sky, he stands gazing above the tree line in awe of it.
It has a calming effect on his tattered nerves.

JACOB (V.O.)
I felt peace from observing the
vastness of space that night, and
the striking stars, the embers of
God's imagination.

He smiles and feels a presence next to him; he then speaks
aloud.

JACOB (CONT'D)
What wonderful things you create my
God...

All of a sudden hundreds of birds fly from the trees, the
entire forest is swarming. All of them fly as if one,
speeding east-ward in a frenzied panic!
Suddenly there is a flash of light that traverses the entire
length and width of the sky. It was a bright white light,
Jacob dives to the ground, as he looks up he sees something
he did not want to see, but he couldn't, he wouldn't stop
himself from looking. A mushroom cloud climbs high into the air,
Jacob pounds his fist against the ground, crying out with bitter lament.

JACOB (CONT'D)
Noooo!!! no!!

EXT. BILLINSON PARK/NUCLEAR DESTRUCTION - NIGHT
He stands up. The ground beneath him pulsates, gravity
ostensibly getting weaker, then stronger.
He looks again skyward; suddenly there was a series of
flashes, this time a string of clouds appeared littering the
horizon. The sky is on fire, it is a shuddering image of destruction,
of obliteration. Jacob looks towards the city he once lived and sees only a
rising creature red stained against the black of night. His
legs weaken as if the creature is drawing energy from his
soul. The earth shakes violently and the winds blow erratically, a
wave of energy passes through the trees, stripping them of
their leaves. It is a monstrous sight, it cuts right through Jacob's
senses, he can’t move, he can’t think, he can’t do anything
but watch. Abruptly all becomes silent, the distant clouds drift like
swans on a glassy lake. A creation of man has devoured the
earth, a world which will be forever changed, never to be the
same again.

EXT. BILLINGSON PARK - MORNING
The next morning Jacob wakes surrounded by leaves and fallen
branches. As he rises to his feet he sees only a grey and
murky sky, it is featureless.
All around him he sees ash descending to the ground; it
looked like a winter's day with white ash covering
everything.

EXT. NUMBER 17/PATH - MORNING
Jacob stumbles along patting white dust and ash off his
clothes and out of his hair; everything is oddly silent,
without even a breath of wind.

EXT. NUMBER 17/FRONT DOOR
He walks up the steps to the front door, David stands at the
open door, clearly in shook.

JACOB
Come on, lets go inside.

Jacob leads David inside.

INT. NUMBER 17/SITTING ROOM - MORNING
Jacob leads David to a chair and sits him down. Patting
David on the back Jacob attempts to console him. David was
unable to accept what had happened, he muttered and rocked
back and fourth on his seat.

INT. NUMBER 17/MAIN BEDROOM - MORNING
Jacob carries David to the bed, and lays him down. David is
pale and spoke incoherently, his eyes transfixed.
Jacob tucks him in, stands by the bed a while then exits the
room.

EXT. NUMBER 17/SURROUNDING FOREST - DAY
Dead and withered trees, dust floating in the air, grey
skies.

JACOB (V.O.)
Days then weeks passed and the grey
world outside grew colder. The
once serene and verdant forests
were now either dead or dying.
David grew increasingly ill, with
strange marks all over his body;
his hair was falling out and
getting thinner. I seemed
unaffected and tried my best to
tend to him, who cried sometimes as
if he was a deranged madman.

EXT. NUMBER 17/STREAM - DAY
A single fish floats down the stream, it is lined by dying
plants.

JACOB (V.O.)
It all seemed like a dream at
first, with everything white and
hazy.

INT. NUMBER I7/SITTING ROOM - MORNING
It is a bitterly cold morning. Jacob sits wrapped in heavy
blankets staring at the television; hoping to receive a
broadcast.

He shakes grasping his blankets tight against his body, his
mind hopelessly wandering, he has no idea what has happened.
He has not seen nor heard from a single soul since the bombs
had landed and he is desperate.
As he watches he sees a faint image, then for a moment he
sees a man's face and the hears the sound of his broken
sentences.
Waiting with anticipation Jacob steers intently at the
screen. Then without warning the image abruptly clears up.
The man is pale and sickly, and speaks slowly with a
dispirited expression; Jacob unable to hear quickly turns it
up.

NEWS PRESENTER 2
Again the information we have
received indicates a total loss,
and that this nuclear exchange was
nothing more than an accident. The
recent Israeli crisis sparked
misunderstandings between world
powers, and no one is sure who
struck first. What we are sure of
is that the U.S. launched over 150
warheads most of which reached
there destination. Paris, Rome,
Berlin and Tehran all in ruins.
Again this is a nation-wide
warning; reports of an invading
force have been made, with some
reports of mass-extermination.
There is no clear indication of who
the invading army is, but if you
live in any of the main centers
unaffected you are advised to leave
immediately. All those in rural
areas should-

As Jacob watches he hears a voice behind him, he turns to see
a weakened and ailing David holding himself up against the
door frame. Expending all his energy David walks over to the
coach and with great care slowly sits down. He looks at
Jacob with glazed and darkened eyes and speaks.

DAVID
I heard the television, what
happened Jacob?

JACOB
There was an exchange; they're
calling it a mistake. But now
there's some army killing everyone?

DAVID
Army? Here on American soil?

JACOB
Yes, I have no idea what is going
on.

They sit watching the broadcast, the announcer repeated the
same message over and over, eventually the signal dropped
out. Jacob is so tired that eventually he nods off.

EXT. DREAM STATE/THE GLOWING MAN - DAY
He finds himself surrounded by a graveyard of twisted trees;
he hides peering out through the mass of dead branches.
Suddenly, inexplicably a man appears before him, he is over
ten foot tall and his skin shone bright with a golden color.
He wears a golden breastplate and stands looking down on him.
His eyes are ablaze and his expression one of peace, Jacob
feels comforted and terrified. Then there is a loud pounding
noise..

INT. NUMBER 17/HALLWAY AND FRONT DOOR - DAY
The front door shakes, with someone pounding on it.

INT. NUMBER 17/SITTING ROOM - DAY
Jacob wakes to the sound of bashing at the front door. He
looks out to see an elderly man frantic to get in, his
clothing is torn and his face is expressing a tortured fear.

INT. NUMBER 17/HALLWAY AND FRONT DOOR - DAY
Jacob walks into the hall and quickly opens the front door
and in hurried the frantic man. The man rushes down the
hall, looking in every direction, he appears like he is
searching to a place to hide. Jacob yelled.

JACOB
What's wrong? Where are going?

ELDERLY MAN
I must, I mean WE must hide.
They're killing everyone!!

JACOB
Who? Slow down who's killing
everyone?

ELDERLY MAN
I'm not sure, I think they are
European, I heard American bombs
devastated most of Europe.

JACOB
But it was unintentional; surely
they don't want to continue
fighting?

ELDERLY MAN
It's not about fighting anymore,
it's about survival, America has
many resources, that's what they're
here for. They're killing us all
because there's not enough of
anything left, we must hide!

Scrabbling with what little strength he has the elderly man
climbs up into the attic.

INT. NUMBER 17/SITTING ROOM - DAY
Jacob bursts into the sitting room, with a petrified voice he
calls out to David.

JACOB
David we must get out of here!

David stands at the window trying to see beyond the lifeless
and inanimate trees. He raises his hand asking for quiet.

DAVID
I think I hear something, sounds
like people moving, (whispers) lots
of people.

Jacob filled with adrenaline desperately whispers.

JACOB
David come on!

Before David can respond a shot rings out, the window
shatters and David flies backward crashing into the wall.
Jacob hears voices approaching, he looks to see David sitting
beside the coach, his eyes are open staring at the floor, and
he is dead.
Footsteps are approaching. He quickly knells on the ground
making sure he can not be seen through the window.

INT. NUMBER 17/FRONT DOOR - DAY
Suddenly the front door is bashed open, and three soldiers
dressed in black enter

INT. NUMBER 17/SITTING ROOM - DAY
The sound of men wearing heavy boots sound and reverberate as
they enter the house.
Jacob then realizes he had been there before, he dashes over
to David, and reluctant but very scared he drags David's body
over him concealing himself.
Moments later three men burst into the sitting room. They
quickly move around the room searching behind and within
everything.
Jacob peers past David's armpit and sees they were all
dressed in black military uniforms, holding sleek black guns.
They speak and he recognizes the language, it was either
Italian or German. They see David's body and do a cursory
check to see whether he is dead. Jacob lays helpless holding
his breath as they poke at David.

INT. NUMBER 17/HALLWAY - DAY
One soldier walks into the hallway and points his gun at the
ceiling. Yelling something. The old man peers out of a
hatch, and the soldier appears to demand that he come down.
The old man carefully and submissively climbs down, once down
he puts his arms in the air.

ELDERLY MAN
I surrender, please I surrender...

INT. NUMBER 17/SITTING ROOM - DAY

ELDERLY MAN (O.S.)
Pleeeeasssse! Noooo!

Jacob hears three gun shots, and then the sound of the old
man hitting the floor with a sickening thud.
The three men stand in the hallway talking for a while then a
commanding voice calls for them, they take one last look at
the room then quickly leave.
He lays under David's body for a while, and once their voices
grow distance Jacob quickly dashes from the sitting room.

EXT. BILLINGSON PARK ENTRANCE - DAY
Jacob appears, running across the road and into the park

EXT. BILLINGSON PARK/DENSE FOREST - DAY
He travels through the dense and dying undergrowth
haphazardly jumping and weaving over fallen trees and animal
remains.

EXT. BILLINGSON PARK/DENSE UNDERGROWTH - AFTERNOON
It is after noon, and he squats down hiding in the dead and
twisted remains of the forest, he feels sure that he is safe,
at least for a while.
As he hides he suddenly sees movement in front of him, he
lays down on his chest blowing dust all about with his
nostrils, he is petrified, and he thinks he has been
discovered.
He focuses intently through the dusty branches and
decomposing leaves in front of him, he could see a figure
standing in the distance.
He sits up to get a better view, he sees a bright glowing
man, he stands over ten feet tall with shining eyes, and the
man is gesturing to Jacob to follow him. The massive figure
disappears into the decaying forest and he follows him.

EXT. BILLINGSON PARK/DENSE FOREST TREES - AFTERNOON
Jacob runs faster and faster trying to keep up with him, but
every time he gets close the man seems to escape from his
view.

EXT. BILLINSON PARK/RIVER - AFTERNOON
He comes to a river, the shining man stands on the other side
encouraging Jacob to cross.
The river is filled with dead fish floating along with the
current. He jumps and then wades through the freezing water.
When he arrives at the other side the man is gone, he looks
to see him disappearing over a steep rise in front of him.
Jacob struggles up the hillside digging his toes into the
dirt; finally with all his strength he throws himself over
the top.

EXT. OLD DIRT ROAD - AFTERNOON
Jacob pulls him self over the top, only to be confronted by
several soldiers.
The soldiers rush him and drag him to his feet.
Another soldier comes into view and with a cruel expression
on his face and strikes him with the back of his hand.
Jacob trembles with great fear still shivering wet from the
river. Again the soldier hits him and Jacob falls to the
ground holding his face, he tries to crawl away but this was
an act of futility.
Again the soldiers drag him to his feet; he stands dazed and
unable to focus.
The cruel soldier calmly takes out his weapon and points it
at Jacob's head, Jacob is released and he stands alone
resigned and helpless.
Just as the soldier is about to fire a loud voice cried out.
The soldiers all snap to attention and an officer approaches.
Although Jacob can’t understand what they are saying it is
clear the officer is telling them off. He looks at Jacob
with compassion and motions for the soldiers to take hold of
him.
As the officer walks away one of the soldiers slams the butt
of his rifle into Jacob's face, and all goes dark.

EXT. DREAM STATE/BUILDING HOUSES
A large number of people are busy building shacks and hovels,
they are surrounded by rocky cliffs on every side.

INT. TRANSPORT SHIP/LOWER DECKS
Jacob wakes to the sound of many people around him. He sits
up and sees he is one of many prisoners, many of which are
badly injured, some dead.
He stands and looks across to see a door, with a number of
prisoners coming and going. He realizes he is on the water,
as the ship swings from side to side, with the sound of water
splashing against the hull. He then hears a voice beside him.

JOE
So your awake... well welcome to
hell.

Jacob looks down to see a sickly man laying on the floor.

JACOB
Where am I? Am I on a boat?

JOE
A prisoner transport to be
specific, I’m Joe what’s your name?

Jacob slowly sits steering straight ahead and responds.

JACOB
I’m...um Jacob, Jacob Burrows.

Suddenly a large soldier enters the room, and struts past all
the prisoners. He carries a large wooden cane, and sneers as
he scans all the prisoners faces. He speaks in broken
english.

CREUL SOLDIER
Soon we vil arrive at our
destination... You are being taken
to peoples verk camp, if you behave
you will be save. I vil no
tolerate any misbehave.

A prisoner stands up and responds.

BOLD PRISONER
Why are you holding us?

The cruel soldier storms over to the prisoner and presses his
head against the prisoners.

CREUL SOLDIER
Vu were no given permissian to
speak!

The soldier swipes the prisoner with his cane and knocks him
to the ground. He then proceeds to beat him.

CREUL SOLDIER (CONT'D)
You vil no speak anymore!

The cruel soldier, wiping his forehead walks to the door.

CREUL SOLDIER (CONT'D)
Behave, and you vil be treated vel,
do not do what is told, and vu die.
Do we understanding?

He exits to the relief of all the prisoners.

Jacob turns to Joe and speaks.

JACOB
Where are we going?

JOE
To the Eden camp, I’m not sure
where it is? I’ve heard that most
of the American prisoners get taken
there, and nobody gets out.

JACOB
How can they do this to us?

JOE
It’s a brave new world friend, a
new world, a new world.

Joe lays back signing and closes his eyes. Jacob sits
looking ahead with a defeated look on his face.

EXT. TRANSPORT SHIP/TOP SIDE - DAY
Jacob leans over the side looking out at the ocean, the seas
are rough, and the wind is strong. Time passes and then a
bearded walks up and leans beside him.

AUGUST
Extraordinary isn’t it, I love the
sea.

JACOB
You wouldn’t think the world was..
You know the way it is, looking
down there.. That is until you
look up.

They both look up at the sky, it is grey and swirling in a
very unnatural manner. It looks ugly.

AUGUST
I hope where we are going isn’t as
bad as what people are telling me..

Just as Jacob started to respond he is interrupted.

SIMON
You!

Jacob looks around to see five large men, each stand glearing
at Jacob. Then the largest speaks.

SIMON (CONT'D)
Yeh that’s right, over here. We
got rules round here, so I don’t
wanna see you eating or drinking
with out giving me my rightful
share.

JACOB
What? I’m sorry I don’t
understand?

Simon walks over and punches Jacob in the face and then
forces him over the side. Jacob hangs over struggling
against him.

SIMON
Do you understand now?

JACOB
Yeees, Yes I understand now let me
go, please!

Simon lets go and shoves Jacob aside. And then arrogantly
strolls away with his friends strolling with him. He then
looks back a Jacob.

SIMON
I’ll be seeing you.. (laughs)

Jacob leans over the side, shocked at what just happened,
August tries to console him.

EXT. TRANSPORT SHIP/TOP SIDE - DAY
A bell rings out and all the prisoners come running. As they
crowd about a soldier strolls out and empties a large bucket
of scraps, mostly fish heads onto the steel deck.
Prisoners scramble desperately fighting for the scraps.
Jacob lunges in and manages to get a handful of muck, he
retreats to a corner. Just as he begins to eat it Simon
grabs him and thrashes him, then takes the muck and strolls
of laughing.
Jacob sits weeping, covered in filth, miserable.

I/E. TRANSPORT SHIP/LOWER AND TOP DECK - NIGHT
Jacob wakes to the sound of waves beating against the hull.
He hears much commotion up on the top deck. Suddenly he
hears a voice shouting.

FRIGHTENED MAN (O.S.)
Oh no, ahhhh!

Jacob rushes to the top deck. A massive storm is beating
against the transport ship. The wind howls and water is
completely enveloping the deck.
Men are holding onto what they can and many are being washed
over board. Jacob sees a figure in the darkness hanging on
to the side. He runs to him, being beaten down and thrown
about by the wind and water as he approahes.
He arrives and sees that it is Simon.

JACOB
Look at mee! Just take my hand
(shouts)

Simon weakened reaches out to Jacob.

JACOB (CONT'D)
Hold on! Just hold on I’ll pull
you up! (shouts)

A giant wave, much bigger than what would normally be
expected crashes over them. Jacob holds on to Simon with all
his might.
Then he strains and pulls and finally drags Simon onto the
deck. Simon breathing heavily looks at Jacob and speaks.

SIMON
Why? Why would you help me?

JACOB
I can’t let a man die, I couldn’t
just watch you die.

Simon looks down and becomes quite depressed

SIMON
You should have left me, then I
would be away from this hell.

Simon struggles to his feet and then stumbles off fighting
against the wind.
Jacob sits with the wind blowing into his face.

EXT. TRANSPORT SHIP/TOP DECK AND EDEN - DAY
Jacob wakes with light on his face, still sitting where he
was the night before in the storm. He is wet and cold. The
ship bobs about reminding him where he is.
He then hears a man cry something out. He looks to see a
soldier pointing out to sea. As he stands he sees a terrible
sight.
They have arrived. He sees darkened land, and a filthy
shoreline. Thousands of prisoners line the shore all being
led up the side of a hill. There are make-shift buildings
and tattered tents.
There are prisoners as far as the eye can see.

EXT. THE SHORE OF EDEN - DAY
The transport ship lands and all the prisoners and forced off
to the sound of screaming soldiers. Jacob is forced along
with Simon and many others to joined the thousands of
prisoners scattered along the muddy hillside.
People lay dying in the mud, skinny and malnourished. There
are sounds of moaning and crying coming from all directions.
The air is thick with ash and smoke, the prisoners are
blackened and filthy.
A soldier comes up to Jacob and drags him across the
hillside, and throws him into the mud, nearby is a tattered
tent with a long line of prisoners being fed through and out
of it. The soldier shouts down at Jacob.

THE EDEN SOLDIER
You will vate and stay, do not
move!

Jacob quite fearful sits and the soldier walks off.

EXT. THE HILLSIDE OF EDEN - NIGHT AND DAY
PASSAGE OF TIME. Jacob sits in the mud, along with many
others, it gets dark and starts to rain. He remains still
waiting. The days pass, and the nights. He remains
weakening with every day.
Many die and howl and cry. He just sits and remains silent,
watching the never ending line of prisoner pass through the
filthy and tattered tent in front of him.

EXT. THE HILLSIDE OF EDEN - DAY
A soldier walks out and throws scraps haphazardly across the
hillside. Many prisoners scramble and fight for them, Jacob
sits looking despondent and unconcerned.

EXT. THE HILLSIDE OF EDEN - NIGHT
The rain drives down on Jacob. He sits very weakened looking
at the ground. The lights around the tent are all that are
visible, the wind is bitterly cold.
Suddenly out of the tent a woman runs.

FRANTIC WOMAN
Noooo! I will not (crying)
She trips and slides into the mud. An officer walks out of
the tent and casually walks over to her. She rolls over, and
lays on her back with a defiant look on her face.
The officer without any emotion draws his handgun and shots
her in the head. Jacob watches with shock.

I/E. THE HILLSIDE OF EDEN/THE TATTERED TENT - NIGHT
Jacob is woken by a soldier yelling at him and kicking him.
The soldier drags him to his feet. With what little strength
he has he tries to keep up as the soldier drags him and
thrusts him into line.
He waits in line for a few minutes quickly prompted to move
forward.
Soon he is next in line to enter the tent. He hears a voice
call out.

TENT OFFICER (O.S.)
Next!

Jacob is shoved into the tent. Inside there is a long
foldout table. Behind it is four men, one an officer
apparently directing their activities. Jacob is one of five
others standing in a line being fed past the table.
On the table is a number of clipboards and a small metal
device. Soldiers hold the first in line, an elderly woman
and sear something onto her wrist with the device.
She is then led out of the tent. Before they can grab hold
of the next prisoner, a large man, he grabs the table and
flips it over.

CRAZED PRISONER
Get that bloody thing the hell away
from me.

The crazed prisoner attacks the soldiers, creating a pile of
people on the ground. Jacob is knocked to the ground in the
struggle. He crawls across to the tent wall and rolls out.

I/E. TATTERED TENT AND TRUCK - NIGHT
As he stands up a soldier quickly grabs him and throws him on
the back of a truck filled with other prisoners. They then
drive away into the darkness.

I/E. TRUCK/SCENE OF EXTERMINATION - DAY
Jacob is carried along, the truck bumping along. He smells
something strange and looks out of the truck. He sees masses
of bodies piled up along the road. Many of the piles have
been set on fire.
He looks away in shock, wiping a tear from his eye.

I/E. TRUCK/JOURNEY - DAY AND NIGHT
PASSAGE OF TIME. Jacob is carried for many days and nights
in this cramp truck. They pass LINES OF PRISONERS. And pass
through DESOLATED CITIES. And he sees DEAD FORESTS, and
DRIED UP RIVERS.

I/E. TRUCK/ARRIVAL AT INTERNMENT CAMP - DAY
Jacob hears the sound of movement approaching outside the
truck. Soon he hears people talking, he looks out to see the
truck approaching a large iron gate, with guards stationed at
it They pass through the gate, and then come to a jolting stop.
Suddenly a soldier appears yelling at the prisoners to get
out of the truck, Jacob scrambles with the rest and gets out.
He, once he gets out, is greeted with an awesome sight. A
massive fenced area stretches out in front of him, within it
are millions of people, all crowded together.
There is a single entry point, a massive iron gate. The
fences are over 20 feet high, and have barbed wire lining the
top of them.
The area goes back for miles slowly creeping upwards on a
shallow angle. The sound of people fills the air, the smell
is intense.
Nearby is a small encampment, quite a few soldiers sit and
stand about.
Jacob is pushed with the other prisoners toward the gate.

EXT. INTERNMENT CAMP/ENTRY GATE - DAY
Jacob stands in line. After a short period the giant gates
creek open, and a soldier motions for the line of prisoners
to move.
The entry is crowded by thousands of prisoners, yelling and
crying holding bowls out begging soldiers for food and water.
Jacob watches as the prisoners in front of him are channeled
through a narrow metal gate, like they were livestock. Each
were given a colored bowl. One elderly man was pushed
through without receiving a bowl.
Eventually Jacob is herded through the SMALL METAL GATES. He
is then stopped by a short soldier.

HANS
Stop here.

Jacob stands with an officer looking him up and down,
appearing to make a decision. The officer then looks at Hans
and sharply barks out.

THE COMMANDANT
Red!

Hans quickly thrusts a red bowl into Jacob’s chest and pushes
him through the gates.
Jacob enters the main area, everywhere he looks he sees the
faces of hopeless people. Many where suites, sports
uniforms, some are naked. It is as if they were taken
captive without any warning, some walk about in nightgowns.
He looks down to see many dead bodies, mostly
children/babies.

EXT. INTERNMENT CAMP/SLOPES - DAY
Jacob walks up the slopes, now quite a distance from the main
gate. He sees an area to sit down and he does.
He sits and looks out over the vast multitude of people in
front of him.

SARAH
I still can’t get use to seeing
that.

Jacob looks to see a young woman sitting a few feet away.
She is dressed in rags, her face is blackened, yet she smiles
at Jacob.

SARAH (CONT'D)
Everyday I wake up and see more and
more people arrive. I can’t get
use to seeing so many people packed
into such a small area.

JACOB
There must be millions

SARAH
They will be bringing the food out
soon (stands) so I would come with
me, you have to be ready or you
will miss out.

Sarah walks down the slope, Jacob gets up and follows her.

EXT. INTERNMENT CAMP/WANDERING THROUGH THE CROWD - DAY
Jacob and Sarah wander through a densely packed crowd.

SARAH
Most of these people won’t live for
much longer. Thousands die
everyday. They want us to die, the
only reason they let us live is to
work for them. They are to
weakened and ill to labour so they
use us for that.

They push their way though the crowd

SARAH (CONT'D)
They only feed those they want
alive. That’s what the bowls are
for, so look after yours, if it is
taken you will not be able to get
any food.

JACOB
That’s terrible.

SARAH
You have a red bowl, that means you
will be assigned to physical labour
tasks when you are processed.

JACOB
You have a yellow bowl?

SARAH
The yellow bowl means I will be a
servant, or a comfort woman or
something.

JACOB
You said I am being processed?

SARAH
This is just the main internment
camp. Soon you will be taken to a
labour camp, along with all the
other reds. Those without a bowl
will be left here to die.

Suddenly there is a surge of people pushing and fighting
their way past Jacob and Sarah. Sarah looks over in the
direction everyone is running.

SARAH (CONT'D)
We have to hurry, they only provide
enough food for less than half of
us.

Sarah takes Jacobs hand and leads him through the crowd, they
battle through with many people desperately climbing over one
another.

EXT. INTERNMENT CAMP/FEEDING TIME - DAY
Jacob hangs out on the front line of a sea of people. Sarah
stands behind him fighting off people. Han comes along
pouring soup into many out stretched bowls.
He stops at Jacob and gives him a larger amount than the
others. Jacob quickly drinks the soup. Then three soldiers
appear and start throwing large handfuls of bread into the
crowd. Sarah manages to catches some in her bowl.
She grabs Jacob and drags him away.

EXT. INTERNMENT CAMP/SLOPES - DAY
They walk up the slopes, with the noise of people behind them
fighting for food, Sarah picks a spot and sits down.

SARAH
Once you get something, get out of
there, otherwise others will take
it.

She hands Jacob some bread, it is mouldy and covered with
dirt.

SARAH (CONT'D)
It doesn’t look to good, but one
day you will learn to appreciate
it.

Jacob hesitantly puts some in his mouth.

They both sit watching as thousands of people fight over
food.

EXT. INTERNMENT CAMP/SLOPES - MORNING
Jacob walks along the slopes saying hello to people, many
ignore him and look to the ground.
He comes across a BOY laying on the slopes, he appears like a
SKELETON. Jacob looks down at him with an expression of
anger.

EXT. INTERNMENT CAMP/SLOPES - NIGHT
Jacob sits looking out over the people, they murmur and move
about. He then hears a voice.

BRICE
You don’t need that, just hand it
over.

Jacob turns to see Sarah and a man. The man stands over her
grasping onto her bowl trying to pull it away from her.

SARAH
Get off of me, get away from me.

The man tugs hard on the bowl

BRICE
I will once you give me it.

SARAH
No! Get your hands off me!

BRICE
Give it to me you fucking whore!

They struggle and Sarah pushes him away with her feet. He
quickly grabs a rock and lunges on top of her, and with a
wild scream he slams it into her head.

BRICE (CONT'D)
You bitch!

Sarah lays motionless. The man pulls the bowl from her
hands. Jacob runs over and looks down at her. She is dead,
BLOOD POOLS AROUND HER HEAD AND TRICKLES DOWN THE SLOPES.

Jacob turns to the man in anger and flies at him. Swinging
wildly Jacob misses and the man punches him until he falls to
the ground clutching his face.

BRICE (CONT'D)
Hero

The man walks off leaving Jacob nursing his face.

EXT. INTERNMENT CAMP/SLOPES - DAY
Jacob sits looking out over the area, he has a bitter look on
his face. The wind blows his hair about, he now has a small
beard. A person appears casting a shadow over him.

NEEDY MAN (O.S.)
Could you help me? My wife is-

Before he could finish Jacob snaps at him

JACOB
Get away from me!

NEEDY MAN
I’m sorry but-

JACOB
Didn’t you hear me? I can’t help
you! No one can (shouts)

The needy man stands with a defeated look on his face and
then slowly wanders away. Jacob sits with an even more
bitter look on his face.

EXT. INTERNMENT CAMP/FEEDING TIME - DAY
Bread is thrown into the crowd. Jacob stands waiting for an
opportunity as everyone fights for it. A weakened man
catches some and is quickly swamped by many people.
As the man lays on the ground pinned Jacob walks up and takes
his bread. The man looks at him with a sad look. Jacob
indifferent begins eating the bread and walks off.

EXT. INTERNMENT CAMP/THE SLOPES - NIGHT
Jacob sits on the slopes, his beard is bigger, he stares
ahead with a blank and bitter look on his face, clutching his
bowl. A group of needy people walk by and he lashes out at
them.

JACOB
Vermin! Get the hell away from me,
human trash! Go on, Go on.

He stands swing at them, they stumble away frightened. Jacob
sits back down looking around with an enraged look on his
face.
He closes his eyes trying to calm himself, and then lays back
clutching onto his bowl, and falls asleep.

EXT. DREAM STATE/INTERNMENT CAMP - NIGHT
He finds himself standing in the middle of the internment
camp. The area is completely empty. There is a strange
yellowish glow about everything.
The a warm wind blows, and a sound of whispering passes by.
Suddenly a voice sounds out.

POWERFUL VOICE
Jacob!

Jacob turns but can see nothing and no one. The he turns to
see the entire population of the camp all surrounding him
forming a perfect square.
Both soldiers and prisoners stand together all looking at
Jacob. The a prisoner speaks.

DREAM PRISONER
We need you

Then another says the same thing. Then Jacob turns to find
Han standing next to him, Hans puts his hands on Jacob’s
shoulders and he speaks.

HANS
We need you Jacob

EXT. INTERNMENT CAMP/SLOPES - MORNING
Jacob wakes to the noise of the camp. He looks out over the
people and begins to cry.

EXT. INTERNMENT CAMP/FEEDING TIME - DAY
Jacob stands watching everyone struggle for the food. He
then turns to see the many people without bowls watching on
with grim and saddened looks on their faces. He turns and
walks over to one, a young child, and gives him his bowl.
Jacob then walks off.

EXT. INTERNMENT CAMP/THE CROWDS - DAY
Jacob walks through the crowds of people, scanning their
faces, he see A WITHERING OLD MAN WHO IS SKIN AND BONES, a
NAKED WOMAN TRYING TO COVER HERSELF, a GROUP OF CHILDREN
SITTING AND COMFORTING ONE ANOTHER and a soldier wrapping his
coat around A DYING MAN.
He stops and scans the crowd and then sees a white flash.

EXT. VISION STATE/INTERNMENT CAMP AND THE HEALING - DAY
He sees himself standing in a large crowd, a woman with jet
black hair with her head down runs into him. He then watches
himself as he walks through the crowd.
He finally arrives at an old man laying on the ground with an
elderly woman resting his head on her knee. Jacob then
watches himself kneel down and lay his hands on the old mans
head.
The old man opens his eyes and sits up. He then smiles and
stands to his feet. Jacob then sees a flash of white light.

EXT. INTERNMENT CAMP/THE HEALING - DAY
Jacob finds himself standing once again in the crowd. He
looks around and as he does a woman with black hair comes
crashing into him. She falls to the ground, Jacob helps her
up.
Looking all around he then starts walking through the crowd.
Looking at all the people laying sick on the ground, A YOUNG
GIRL, A MAN and so on.
He walks for a while and then stops. He desperately looks
about trying to find this old man. He eventually gives up.
Then he turns to move on and sees and woman on the ground and
an old man resting his head on her knee.
Jacob looks down on them, the woman is speaking softly to
him.

JENNIFER
God loves you, really he does,
(weeps) my dear Joseph.

Jacob remembering something he once read in the Bible speaks
aloud to the woman.

JACOB
I do not have gold or silver, or
food or water, but what I do have I
give to you. In the name of Jesus
Christ stand up and be healed.

Jacob kneels down and places his hands on the old mans
forehead. Immediately the old man sits up, looking up at
Jacob. Jacob stands up in surprise, the elderly woman stands
and hugs Jacob.

JENNIFER
God Bless you, thank you (weeps)
Thank you!

The old man stands to his feet fully healed. He then walks
into the crowd yelling at the top of his lungs.

JOSEPH
Praise God, our Father and our Lord
Jesus Christ, Praise God (crying)

The elderly woman gives Jacob a red Bowl.

JENNIFER
My son died yesterday this is his
bowl, I want you to have it.

Jacob thanks her and nods at the elderly woman, turns and
walks off into the crowd, leaving the old woman smiling and
looking up at the sky with a tear in her eye.

EXT. INTERNMENT CAMP/SOUTHERN FENCE LINE - DAY
Jacob walks along the fence line. He looks out at the dead
and dying landscape, but has a smile on his face. He comes
across a small group of men, one is complaining.

NATHAN
That’s our lot, we are all going to
die here. There is no God... no
savior! If there were would we be
starving behind this damn fence!

Jacob feels moved to respond.

JACOB
Life is more than food.

NATHAN
Oh here we go another preacher,
tell me preacher man what bloody
life? Do you call this life?

JACOB
No. Jesus Christ is the Life,
without Him we are lost, whether we
are in a palace or trapped behind a
20 foot fence.

NATHAN
Oh yeh? And where is this Jesus
now? Or has he not got round to us
yet?

JACOB
He is standing right in front of
you and all around you.

NATHAN
What kinda double talk is that, man
that’s just a load of shit! Do you
actually listen to yourself? Come
on guys feeding time soon, lets
leave the village idiot to babble
on. Blah blah de blah!

The group begins to move away and Jacob, a bit phazed by the
mans response puffs his chest out and speaks aloud.

JACOB
Jesus came to this earth not to
destroy but to liberate it, and he
was far more persecuted than you or
I. You stand by and complain as
you go off and eat the food God has
blessed you with. You a sinner
stand by and curse God knowing full
well the life you have lived, you
are without shame. You are without
remorse (shouts)

Jacob walks over to the group and continues.

JACOB (CONT'D)
You know what is expected of us yet
still you complain, as if you do
not know, but you do, all of you
do.

Jacob looks around at the group.

NATHAN
If God loves us why are we here,
why are children dying, so much for
the compassion of God.

JACOB
Do you care that much for the
little children? Or do you only
care about yourself. You are here
because God loves you, he loves you
so much he blessed you with the
capacity to choose. It is the
choices of men that has led to you
being held behind these walls.

Jacob walks over and rattles the fence.

JACOB (CONT'D)
And you were warned, God gave all
of you the time, the opportunity to
repent and turn to Him. But no,
you continued living your lives for
yourselves, living in the sins of
the flesh. It was your choices
that put you here!

NATHAN
What? I didn’t choose to be here,
If I had the choice I would be
somewhere else, anywhere else but
here!

JACOB
You chose your fate when you turned
from the counsel of God, when you
lived a life of sin and spat in the
face of God. You all knew of God’s
warnings, but you chose not to
accept them, you chose not to
believe them. Instead you filled
your lives with things, and
satisfied your lusts, you lied and
you stole, you cannot deny it. God
loves you, that’s why he allowed
you to choose for yourself, even
when your choices lead to this.

Jacob raised his arms looking around at the camp.

JACOB (CONT'D)
The wages of sin are death, your
sin has killed your happiness,
destroyed your homes, caused your
loved ones to drop dead at your
feet. God doesn’t want you to
suffer, believe me, but you chose
to suffer, and He will not
interfere with free-agency.

NATHAN
I did not chose to drop bombs on my
city.

JACOB
No that was the sinful choice of
another man, it is unfortunate that
the sins of so few can effect the
lives of so many.

Nathan looks down rubbing his head.

NATHAN
If God doesn’t want this, if He
doesn’t want us to suffer, then why
doesn’t he stop it?

JACOB
My friend, God will give you all
that you ask for, if you just
repent and believe.

NATHAN
Believe? Believe in what, that
their is a God that is up there
somewhere looking down on us. A
God that punishes and destroys?

JACOB
No there is a God that loves you
and wants to be close to you.
There is a God that loves you so
much that he wants you to think for
yourself, CHOOSE for yourself.
There is God that sent His only Son
so that you may have that choice.

NATHAN
What choice?

JACOB
To turn from the ways of the world,
lust, hatred, pride, vanity, greed.
To choose to turn from the world
and submit to God and his Holy
precepts, and live a full life
filled with peace... even in such a
place as this.

NATHAN
Why?

JACOB
Because His Kingdom comes, and He
wants so much for you... All of you
to be a part of it. God doesn’t
want to lose a single soul.

NATHAN
How do I believe? I don’t know how
to believe? It all seems very
unlikely to me.

JACOB
Choose to believe.

NATHAN
To believe in what?

JACOB
In Jesus Christ. To believe that
He was sent by our Father in
Heaven. That he died for our sins
and that we no longer have to be
burdened by them. Believe that his
words are true and should be acted
on.

NATHAN
Just believe that?

JACOB
That is a start. Everything starts
with something. You must accept
the selfless act of Christ, turn to
Him, and repent.

The man walks to the fence and looks back at Jacob with a
humble face.

NATHAN
In this place?

JACOB
In any place, God doesn’t live in a
church, or in a wooden cross, He
lives within you. No matter what
happens He will be with you, no
matter where you go.

A man from the group steps out and speaks.

JAMES
What do I do?

Jacob turns to the man and smiles, he walks over to the man
and takes hold of his hands.

JACOB
Repeat after me. My Father in
Heaven.

JAMES
...My Father up in Heaven

JACOB
Please forgive me for my sins, the
sins I have committed all of my
life.

JAMES
Please Father please forgive me for
my sins.

JACOB
I accept that Jesus Christ, Your
Son, died on the cross so that I
may be forgiven, I accept Him and
will strive to serve Him from now
on as my King and Lord.

JAMES
I accept Jesus Christ as my Kind
and Lord and that he died for my
sins, I accept that he died so that
I can be forgiven.

JACOB
I know without I will not and can
nor overcome, I surrender to You,
please guide me with Your staff,
please correct with Your rod.

JAMES
Without You I cannot overcome,
Please my Father (crying) I
surrender, I surrender to your
will, I surrender. Please guide me
and correct me.

JACOB
Jesus Christ is Lord, and You are
my Father and Creator of us all, my
all the Glory be to you and no
other. As for me I will strive to
serve.

The man falls to his knees and cries out.

JAMES
Jesus Christ You are my Lord, I
thank you, I thank you Father in
Heaven. You are my Creator You are
my God. My all the Glory be to
You, I will serve to serve, please
help me serve.

JACOB
Amen

JAMES
Amen Amen Amen (crying)

EXT. INTERNMENT CAMP/CROWD AND WOODEN BOX - DUSK
A crowd of people have begun to form around this small group
of men. Jacob sees all the people and their apparent
interest. Jacob walks out into the crowd and comes to an old
wooden box, he climbs up onto it and speaks aloud.

JACOB
He comes quickly! He is the light
in all this darkness. There is no
other, no other name in Heaven or
on Earth that is greater than His.
He is the light of the world, come
to Him all you who walk in
darkness. Knock and the door will
be opened to you, ask and it will
be given, repent and you will be
made free!

A man calls out from the crowd.

ANGRY MAN
Shut the fuck up, we don’t wanna
hear it, can’t you see there is no
God here?

Jacob pauses then continues.

JACOB
I tell you now, and you should
accept this without any doubt, God
is here, he stands next to you, he
is laying over there (pointing), he
is in the hearts and faces of all
around you. Turn to Jesus Christ,
put your sorrows upon Him and let
them be swallowed up by his light!

A woman comes running out of the crowd yelling.

KATE
I’m healed... I’m healed (shouts
louder looking around), praise God
I’m healed.

Jacob raises his hands.

JACOB
Don’t think about the past, that
life is gone, there is nothing left
now, just this barren place. There
is nothing left that stands between
us and God. Stand up, raise your
voice to Heaven, repent!

A young man stands out and yells in anger.

ANGRY YOUNG MAN
Why should I believe in a God that
put me in such a horrible place! I
owe Him nothing, nothing (shouts)

The young man storms off.

JACOB
This is just the storm before the
calm, birth pangs before the birth
of a new world. Be a light in this
darkness, a city on a hill.

The young man screams from a distance.

ANGRY YOUNG MAN
I’ve got nothing, nothing left, it
has all been taken. My family, my
home.

JACOB
Yes we have all lost everything,
the only thing left is what we hold
inside. Our pride, our anger
(looking at the angry young man),
our fear. Give up these things,
surrender to God and gain all.
Repent and gain His forgiveness,
Accept Jesus Christ and receive
your salvation.

Jacob looks down to see Simon standing in the front, Simon
smiles at him. Then he looks across to see Hans looking on.

JACOB (CONT'D)
It doesn’t matter who you are, or
what you have done. God accepts
everyone, he will take you just the
way you are. Don’t think you have
to be perfect, you may be a
murderer, a rapist, or a thief.
You may think that you are a good
person. It doesn’t matter, all are
equal in the eyes of God.

Jacob looks about at a silent crowd, many look back with a
look of hope on their faces. He sees the sick being carried
from every direction. Also many soldiers stand listening.

JACOB (CONT'D)
He loves you, he will heal you, he
will accept you, don’t reject your
God any longer.

EXT. INTERNMENT CAMP/LARGE CROWD AND PREACHING INTO THE NIGHT
PASSAGE OF TIME. Jacob continues to preach to the crowd, It
GETS LARGER AND LARGER, and many people TURN TO GOD. The
SICK ARE HEALED. Some still ATTACK AND ARGUE, others stand
and sit with HOPE.

EXT. INTERNMENT CAMP/LARGE CROWD - DAWN
Jacob looks up at the sky, and raises his hands.

JACOB
Soon Jesus Christ will return as
the King of kings, the dawn of the
new world is upon us. Hopeless
will wither away, death will lose
its sting, fear will be only a
distant memory. Joy will fill
everything to the full, and our God
will wipe away all of your tears.
Repent and turn, RETURN to your
God, eternity waits.

Jacob steps down and walks through the crowd, it parts for
him and he walks towards the slopes.

EXT. INTERNMENT CAMP/THE SLOPES - DAY
A large group sits with Jacob; Simon, Jennifer, Joseph,
James, Nathan, Kate, and many others.

JOSEPH
When will it happen?

JACOB
No one knows the day or the hour
Jesus will return, however I feel
certain events have to occur first
before that day comes.

NATHAN
What events?

JACOB
We should rejoice in the fact that
our King is coming, and that all
will be revealed soon.

NATHAN
Yes.

A man walks up with a child in his arms, Jacob stands to
discover it is the same man that killed Sarah. Jacob walks
over to him.

JACOB
Is this child sick?

BRICE
Yes (whimpers) it’s my son, he got
ill last night, and today...

JACOB
Do you have the faith, will you
believe, if so he will be healed.

BRICE
I do believe, I believe my son will
be healed (cries)

JACOB
In name of Jesus Christ of Galalee
may this child be made whole

Jacob places his hand on the boys head, and he immediately
springs to life. Brice falls to his knees releasing the now
restless child. He then grasps Jacob by the legs and
attempts to worship him. Jacob stands back and speaks
loudly.

JACOB (CONT'D)
Do you think I have healed this
child? I am a man give all the
praise and glory to God.
Brice looks up and cries out.

BRICE
Thank you God, may all the glory be
to you, please forgive me (crying
loud)

Jacob smiles and looks down at Brice.

JACOB
God forgives you and so do I.

Brice joins the group with Jacob patting him on the back.

EXT. INTERNMENT CAMP/CROWD - DAY
Jacob walks with Nathan through the crowd, people greet them
as they pass by. Suddenly there is a loud clanking noise and
the commandant’s voice sounds through a loud speaker.

THE COMMANDANT
You will all listen, stop vat you
are doing and listen to my
announcement.

Everyone stops and all becomes dead silent.

THE COMMANDANT (CONT'D)
You will all assemble in groups
according to color. Reds by the
red marker and so on. Do this
quickly.

EXT. INTERNMENT CAMP - DAY
Millions of people serge about chaotically searching for
their marker. Those without bowls stand and watch with
resigned looks on their faces.
Soldiers appear pushing everyone into groups. Those with no
bowls are clustered together by the southern most fence.

EXT. INTERNMENT CAMP/SOUTHERN FENCE LINE - DAY
Once all the prisoners are bunched together at the fence the
soldiers open fire killing them all.

EXT. INTERNMENT CAMP/RED MARKER GROUP - DAY
Jacob watches in horror, and falls to his knees.
As he kneels there Hans suddenly appears and drags him off.

INT. INTERNMENT CAMP/FOOD PREPARATION AREA - DAY
Hans drags Jacob through the door, and slams it behind them.
Hans then turns to Jacob.

HANS
You must stay here, wait till
everyone is gone before you come
out. Just stay in here!

JACOB
Why are you helping me?

HANS
God is helping you (smiles), just
stay quiet... good luck friend.

Hans leaves with Jacob standing alone surrounded by rusty
pots and stacks of buckets. He kneels down beside a table so
as not to be seen if someone comes in.

EXT. INTERNMENT CAMP/ENTRY GATE - DAY
Millions of people stream the main gate, Nathan looks around
searching for Jacob, and then is abruptly pushed by a soldier
to move on.

EXT. ROAD LEADING AWAY FROM INTERNMENT CAMP - DAY
Millions of people pile down the road, with the camp growing
distant behind them, great clouds of dust surround them.
Soldiers travel on foot and in trucks.
The sky is grey and mirky, the camp is empty.

EXT. INTERNMENT CAMP/CENTRE - DUSK
Jacob stands looking around him, there are thousands of
bodies laying about. He is alone, and begins to walk towards
the gate.

EXT. VISION STATE/ARMY OF MULTITUDES - DAY
Jacob is running through a forest, trees are flashing past
him, he jumps and weaves about. He is urgent, frantic to
reach his destination.
He turns to see a scorched and desolate landscape,
approaching is a massive army, there are hundreds of millions
of people, all carry a weapon. The land is annihilated as
they swept across it.
There are fires burning everywhere, smoke rising, thunder and
lightening in the sky. Nothing survives that gets in this
army’s path.

INT. ABANDONED BARN - DAY
Jacob wakes and leaps to his feet, he is disoriented. He is
surrounded by rotten hay, and there is a dead horse laying in
the corner still tied up.
He decides to leave.

EXT. DESOLATE CITY/OUT SKIRTS - DUSK
Jacob sees a large city scape ahead of him. It is completely
destroyed. Car burned out and abandoned litter the road.
The sky is dark and menacing. Ash drifts about. Fires burn.
He proceeds to walk toward the city.

EXT. DESOLATE CITY/STEET - NIGHT
Jacob walks down a devastated street, the evidence of a
nuclear blast is all around him. All is silent apart from a
slight wind. He then hears the faint sound of voices
approaching. He hides behind a smashed wall.
Soon a crowd of people come along. He listens, they are
speaking English, they are American. He walks out to see
them. One stops and speaks aloud.

PHILLIP
Who is that?

JACOB
I’m Jacob, are you American?

PHILLIP
Yes, and English, Canadian,
Australian...

JACOB
What are you all doing here?

PHILLIP
Well we’re kind of escaping really.

Phillip motions to the group, which Jacob sees is about 100
people, to stop and rest. Phillip and Jacob sit on some
fallen rubble.

PHILLIP (CONT'D)
We were being held in an internment
camp about 30 miles from here. But
all of a sudden our captors... just
took off? They just left us all,
so we tore down the fence and
escaped.

JACOB
They just left you? Why?

PHILLIP
They left all their tents and
supplies behind, they were in a
major hurry. I can’t tell you why.

JACOB
Is this all of you?

PHILLIP
There were about 150 of us, but the
weaker ones couldn’t walk, so we
had to leave them behind.

JACOB
Have you heard anything about the
work camps?

PHILLIP
Well we were supposed to be going
to one, but I guess they had more
important things on their mind.

Jacob stands up and looks over at the group, they all look
despondent with blackened and glum faces.

EXT. DESOLATE CITY/OUT SKIRTS - DAY
They all sit crowded beside the road. Jacob sits on his own
across from the group. Suddenly a fight breaks out, two men
punch and kick one another.

MARK
You fucking prick, your depressing
the hell out of me.

The other man responds, directing his comments towards
everyone.

COLIN
We’re never gonna leave this place,
I’m dead your dead we’re all
fucking dead and you all know it.

Jacob stands and walks over to the Colin.

COLIN (CONT'D)
I’m not going any further, I’m sick
of walking, my feet hurt, my head
hurts... everything fucking hurts
(cries out)

JACOB
Don’t give in to your fears...

COLIN
Fears! Yeh I’m afraid alright.

MARK
Yeh YOU fucking coward (yells)

JACOB
Give your fears over to God,
surrender your pain, don’t give in
the time of Christ’s return is upon
us.

COLIN
Ooooh that’s all I need an insane
preacher trying to tell me
everything is gonna be o.k. Well
this monkey ain’t buying.

JACOB
What will you do? Stay here, sit
around feeling sorry for yourself?
It’s your choice. God is standing
right in front of you, right now.
He offers you a way out of this...
Jesus Christ is coming, you should
go to welcome Him.

COLIN
I don’t believe in all that crap
(shouts)

A woman stands and speaks out.

LORY
Well I do! We should all be
thankful that we didn’t die like
all the rest, like my son and my
husband.

COLIN
Wait a while we could die, we
probably WILL die quite soon.

LORY
You are bitter, and I know your
hurting, but this is a time we have
to hang onto hope. Hope is all we
have.

COLIN
All hope is lost, look at this
place, LOOK (shouts emotionally)

Colin wanders away from the group and sits across the road.

COLIN (CONT'D)
Rubbish (whispers under his breath)

The group sit in silence and Jacob feels moved to speak

JACOB
What she is saying is true, we have
hope, the greatest hope of all, and
it lies in our Lord and Savior
Jesus Christ. Yes we have fears
and bitterness, we have anger and
pride, but we can give these things
up, surrender them to God and live
with hope.
Jesus Christ died so that we can
live in this hope. He loves you
(looking at Colin), he doesn’t want
you to suffer. Repent of your past
sins and start anew, right here
RIGHT NOW, start over... start over
with the hope God is willing to
give you, that He is so desperate
to give you.

PASSAGE OF TIME. Jacob continues preaching and edifying the
group. Their grim faces of doubt and hopeless fall away,
SOME TURN others remain resigned to hopelessness.

EXT. A ROADMILLIONS OF PRISONERS - DAY
Nathan walks with Kate and others, followed by a massive
multitude of millions, being lead by a small group of
soldiers, the Commandant’s car and various military vehicles.
The road is lined with dead trees, the sky is grim, there is
a slight spitting of rain.
Suddenly the Commandant’s car screeches to a halt, a soldier
runs over to the window apparently speaking to the
Commandant. A few moments later the car spins around and
takes off in the opposite direction, all the soldiers and
vehicles quickly follow, leaving all the prisoners behind.

EXT. A FIELD/A SHORT DISTANCE FROM THE ROAD - DAY
The multitude of now free individuals crowd onto a field,
Nathan takes the lead and stands up on a fallen tree.

NATHAN
We should stay off the roads, and
move south away from the internment
camp. I don’t pretend to know
where we should go, what way we
should head, but we should all
trust in God, that He will lead us
to safety.

A man stands up and speaks.

DOUBTFUL MAN
What if we run into trouble,
shouldn’t we fashion some weapons,
we must protect ourselves.

NATHAN
No. We must have faith, and
believe that we will be shielded
from danger.

DOUBTFUL MAN
Not all of us here are as convinced
as you are that their is a God
watching over us.

NATHAN
All the same, it is best we move
together, and avoid conflict not
get involved in it. Right we
should get moving (points south)

Multitude begins to move south, away from the field.

EXT. WOODLAND/CROWD OF SURVIVORS - DAY
Jacob and his new found friends sit and lay about in a dry
and dead woodland, it is dense, and little light gets in.
Colin sits alone a fair distance away from the group.
Suddenly a young boy comes dashing through, tripping he lands
face first into a pile of twigs and branches. Jacob quickly
gets up and helps the boy to his feet.

JACOB
What are you running from?

SHANE
They’re destroying everything, and
coming in this direction... You
must run (shouts looking around at
group)

JACOB
Calm down... Who is coming this
way?

SHANE
A massive army, there’s millions of
them, HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS.
There’s no stopping them, there no
stooping them (crying)

Jacob hugs Shane close and speaks.

JACOB
It’s alright, your safe with us
now, I won’t let any harm come to
you.

Jacob turns to the group.

JACOB (CONT'D)
I think we should go...

The crowd of people all rise to their feet and start moving.
As Jacob moves, with his arm around Shane, he hears a voice
in the wind.

POWERFUL VOICE
Move... Move quickly.

Jacob calls out to the group.

JACOB
We must hurry (shouts)

Just then he sees a glowing man, an angel, standing in the
distance smiling at him, then angel then motions to Jacob to
follow him and disappears beyond the dense trees.

JACOB (CONT'D)
This way (points)

Jacob starts running, with Shane bouncing and stumbling
behind him, holding onto his hand. The crowd follow him all
running through the trees.

EXT. FLAT PLAINS/ENCAMPMENT - NIGHT
Nathan sits by a fire with Kate, the multitude also sit
scattered about around fires. They are on a plain with
nothing in all directions, the sky above is dark and
forbidding.

NATHAN
If we keep going south I feel like
we will be safe, I just don’t know.

Nathan looks at Kate with a worried expression, and Kate
moves over to him, sitting beside him.

KATE
It will be alright, God’s not about
to lead us astray now, don’t be
such a doubter (smiles)

NATHAN
I don’t know what I would do
without you (smiles)

Kate leans into Nathan

KATE
You would do the same thing, and
they would follow you.

Nathan puts his arm around Kate.

NATHAN
I hope I never lose you, my sweet
Kate.

They stare into each others eyes, and then kiss.

EXT. WOODLAND/EDGE OF WOODLANDS - NIGHT
Jacob and the crowd arrive at the edge of the woodlands to be
presented with a flat expanse. They see plains in front of
them nearby is a large mound.
Jacob turns to group and speaks.

JACOB
We’ll stop here for the night, and
in the morning move in that
direction (pointing south)

The group settle in.

EXT. WOODLANDS/PRIVATE GROUP OF TREES - NIGHT
Jacob kneels down surrounded by dead trees, he closes his
eyes and prays aloud to God.

JACOB
Lord, I have come so far, but I do
not understand where I am going, or
what I suppose to do? Please I ask
you, if it is your will, reveal to
me the path I should take.

He kneels there for only a moment then a voice sounds out.

POWERFUL VOICE
Build a fire Jacob.

Jacob stands looking up at the sky.

JACOB
I don’t understand? Build a fire?

POWERFUL VOICE
Build.

EXT. WOODLAND/TREELINE - NIGHT
Jacob runs out of the woodland calling to the group,

JACOB
Quickly I need your help (shouts)

Lory stands and quickly walks over to Jacob.

LORY
What is it?

JACOB
I need everyone to collect as much
wood as they can, I’m going to
build a fire.

LORY
A fire? Why?

JACOB
Because God wills it (excited
smile)

LORY
I’ll get the others (smiles)

Lory wakes the others, some ignore her and others follow her
and begin collecting wood. Colin gets up and stands a bit of
a distance away looking at them with a cross look on his
face.

EXT. THE PLAINS/THE LARGE MOUND - NIGHT
Jacob stands looking about and Lory comes up behind him

LORY (O.S.)
Where do you want to build it?

JACOB
I’m not sure?

He looks about and then looks up at the large grassy mound.

JACOB (CONT'D)
Up there (points at mound)

EXT. THE MOUND - NIGHT
Lory and around 50 others create a chain and pass dry wood up
to the top of the mound. Jacob stands at the top arranging
the wood, after a while a massive pile of wood sat at the
center of the mound.
Jacob then turns to Lory with a perplexed look on his face.

JACOB
How are we suppose to light it?

Suddenly the sky lights up and churns like a swirling
hurricane, there is flashes of light and thunder then a
crashing sound. A bolt of lightening bursts down and strike
the pile of wood setting it alight.
The crowd stand in awe of the massive fire, flaming upward
lighting up the night.

EXT. FLAT PLAINS/ENCAMPMENT - NIGHT
Nathan sits by the fire with a sleeping Kate in his arms. He
looks up at the sky and whispers a prayer to God.

NATHAN
Please my Lord give me a sign, what
do I do, we are hopelessly lost.
Nathan sees a flash of light and falls backward.

EXT. VISION STATE/FLAMES - NIGHT
Nathan finds himself standing with flames in front of him
reaching high into the air. He feels the heat, and sweat
drips down his face.

EXT. FLAT PLAINS/ENCAMPMENT - NIGHT
Nathan comes to laying flat on his back looking up at the
sky. Kate stands over him with a worried look on her face.
Nathan stands a bit disorientated.

NATHAN
What the... What was that!

KATE
I don’t know but it hurt (nursing
her elbow)

Nathan looks a Kate with excitement.

NATHAN
I prayed to God and then I saw
fire, a massive wall of flames!

KATE
Flames? What does it mean?

Nathan slowly turns looking out at the horizon.

NATHAN
I don’t know, It was just so real-

He stops to see a large glow on the horizon.

NATHAN (CONT'D)
Look (shouts) it’s a fire, a
massive fire burning over there..

KATE
What do we do?

NATHAN
We go towards it, that’s what we
do.

Nathan stood looking at the glow thinking then he speaks
again.

NATHAN (CONT'D)
It’s a signal fire, God has given
us a direction... Get everyone up
we’re moving out.

Kate runs to the nearest crowd and tells them to get up and
then moves on spreading the news.
James comes running over to Nathan.

JAMES
What’s going on?

NATHAN
We’re leaving.

JAMES
Which way, wouldn’t it be best to
wait till morning?

James stands looking a bit disagreeable.

NATHAN
We follow the signal (pointing at
the glow)

EXT. THE MOUND - DAWN
Jacob sits on the mound with the massive signal fire blazing
behind him. Shane sits with him.

JACOB
So he took the loaves and fishes
and said a prayer and the basket
became full, with enough for all
the people to eat and be satisfied.

SHANE
How?

JACOB
With men nothing is possible, but
with God all things are possible.

Just then Jacob hears a sound approaching, he peers through
the growing light of dawn and sees a vast multitude
approaching.
Walking out in front is Nathan, James and Kate. Nathan waves
to Jacob.

NATHAN
Jacob!

Nathan bursts into a wild dash, and Jacob carefully runs down
the side of the mound. They meet and hug.

EXT. OPEN PLAINS/NEXT TO THE MOUND - DAY
The multitude all sit around the mound, Jacob sits with
Nathan and Kate.

JACOB
What happened?

NATHAN
I had a vision of flames then saw
your signal fire, I just knew God
wanted me to head toward it. I
didn’t know that you would be here,
it’s so good to see you again, I
thought you were gone, I thought
I’d never see you again.

Nathan smiles with his hand on Jacob’s shoulder.

EXT. WOODLAND/TREELINE - DAY
Colin sits alone, sneering at the multitude, satisfied with
sitting in isolation. He watches as Jacob and others laugh
and talk.
Suddenly a frantic European soldier flies out of the
woodland, as if fleeing. He doesn’t see Colin and collides
with him knocking them both to the ground.
Shocked and disoriented the soldier gets up and points his
rifle at Colin.
Nathan sees what is happening and quickly runs to Colin’s
aid. Nathan arrives and stands between the soldier and
Colin, the soldier flinches due to Nathan’s sudden arrival
and shoots.
Nathan falls to the ground, and the soldier is subsequently
restrained by a number of people.
Kate runs frantically to Nathan and falls down beside him.

KATE
Nooo! Nathan, are you alright.

Nathan looks up at her smiling.

NATHAN
My sweet Kate (whispers)

An angry man grabs the soldiers rifle and proceeds to aim it
at the soldier, but Nathan cries out.

NATHAN (CONT'D)
No. Put that down, I’ve seen
enough killing. (sitting up a bit)
PUT IT DOWN.

Nathan falls back onto Kate’s knee, looks up at her smiling
and then dies.

EXT. THE MOUND/FUNERAL ON THE MOUND - DAY
The multitude stand around the mound, Nathan’s body is buried
in its center. Jacob stands on top of the mound next to the
grave. The sky is bright, and the wind blows very strongly,
Colin stands by Kate and James at the very base of the mound.

JACOB
We have all seen so much death over
the past three years since this
journey began. We have all lost
loved ones, friends, we have all
lost so much. But we have gained
so much more. I for one am proud
to have known Nathan, a kind and
faithful man who served God till
the end. I had gained his
friendship and although I only knew
him a short time, I would lose it
all again if it meant I would see
him again. His was a true love, a
Godly love, the greatest love that
can be expressed by a man. He
sacrificed his life for another
this IS the greatest expression of
love. He did this because he had a
good teacher, Jesus Christ. Jesus
Christ was and is his living
example. Jesus, like Nathan, gave
up his life so others might live.
Jesus died for our sins, and gave
us the opportunity to live a better
life, and like Nathan, die an
honourable death.

Kate begins crying.

JACOB (CONT'D)
Lets not forget what Nathan did,
nor forget what Jesus did for both
expressed the greatest form of
love. Put aside your doubts, your
anger and your hatred, put aside
those worthless things. Pray to
God now the God of Abraham, Isaac
and Jacob, the God of Nathan. Turn
to each other in service and love,
and leave the old ways of this
dying world behind.

Jacob places his hand on Nathan’s grave and looks up at the
sky.

JACOB (CONT'D)
Our Father in Heaven...

The crowd joins in.

JACOB (CONT'D)
Holy is your name, Your Kingdom
come Your will be done here on
Earth as it is in Heaven. Please
give us today our daily bread, and
forgive us of our debts, we do
forgive our debtors, and please do
not lead us into temptation, but
deliver us from the evil one.

Jacob pauses and all grows silent.

JACOB (CONT'D)
Father in Heaven you are the very
most High, You are our strength
there is no weakness, You are our
hope, there is no hopelessness.
You are the truth, there is no
deceit, You are our faith, there is
no doubt. You are the light, there
is no more darkness, You are the
journey and the destination, the
beginning and the end, the alpha
and the omega, from everlasting to
everlasting, the very most High.
You are above all, beyond all,
within all, around all, through
all, the Creator of all, and all
and all the very most high. Thank
you for everything God of
everything, we will strive to do
everything to serve Your holy will.
May we all serve you, serve YOU
MOST FULLY, with all our actions
words and thoughts.
Thank you for doing for us
something you did not deserve so
that we may have many MANY things
that we do not deserve. Thank you
for dying for our sins. You are
our Father, our Brother, our Lord
and King, You are Creator and
Master, our Family, our God.
Praise be to God.

The multitude cry out.

MULTITUDE
Praise be to God...amen

Jacob walks down off the mound and leads Kate away.

EXT. THE OPEN PLAINS - DAY
Jacob, Kate, James and Simon lad the way as the exodus of
people move across the plains. The sky is bright, the wind
blows softly.

SIMON
Do we know which way we are
heading?

JACOB
We keep heading south.

SIMON
To where?

JACOB
I don’t know? I guess we will find
out.

KATE
God will lead us, we must not doubt
Him.

JAMES
The skies are clearing up (looking
up)

JACOB
Soon we will see our King riding on
the clouds, no more will we see
such a bleak sky. Have joy Simon,
seize it, soon all will be
revealed.

EXT. THE RIVER - DAY
The multitude all sit by a large river and drink, the water
is fresh, beyond the river are mountains and hillsides.
Trees and plant life appeared to have survived the nuclear
winter.

EXT. MOUNTAINSIDE - DAY
The multitude all climb and walk up a mountainside the skies
are clear and blue, trees blow about in the wind, waterfalls
crash down behind them.

EXT. THE GREAT VALLEY - DUSK
Jacob walks over a slight rise to be greeted with a massive
valley in front of him. It is lush and green, with many
trees and rivers. To one side is a very large mountain.
The sky shines with a deep blue. It is an awesome sight
leaving Jacob standing with his mouth hanging open.
Other walk up and stand with him looking down on the vast
plains of the valley.

EXT. HILLSIDE/RUINS - DAWN
The multitude walk down the mountainside towards the vast
expanse of the valley. Jacob and James walk on ahead, they
come across a large flattened area. Scattered about are
ancient ruins, the sun rises casting light over the area
revealing the ruins more clearly.
The ruins stand only a short distance from the base of the
slopes, on a small hill. Jacob stands looking about at them
and then turns to James.

JACOB
This looks like an old fortress,
see the walls over there (points)

James stands shielding his face from the rising sun looking
out over the valley.

JAMES
It’s so beautiful... It seems to go
on forever.

Jacob turns and looks out at the valley.

JACOB
God has given us a chance to start
over.

JAMES
Stunning!

Jacob looks up.

JACOB
We praise you Lord, we are humbled
by the work of your hands.

Joseph wanders down the slope and looks out over the valley.

JOSEPH
What an incredible sight, Is this
where we are headed Jacob?

JACOB
Yes... we are home...

The great multitude appear walking down pasts the ruins, they
stream down the hillside towards the vast green plains.

EXT. THE VALLEY/BUILDING SITE - DAY
Simon walks through some trees, there is a large river
nearby. Then Jacob appears looking around.

JACOB
This is where we will build.

The sun shines down, the trees sway and the river rages past.
A large mountain can be seen in the background. It is a
peaceful scene, with the wind blowing, it is a paradise.

SIMON
Build? Build a fire?

Jacob smiles at Simon.

JACOB
Build a life. We have water
nearby, wood for building with,
everything is provided (looking
around)

SIMON
Where are we? I don’t recognize
anything...

JACOB
We are right where God wants us.

SIMON
Yes but where is that?

JACOB
I’m not sure?

Jacob walks over to a large group nearby and joins them,
Simon stands looking out at the landscape in awe.

EXT. ENCAMPMENT/CENTER FIRE - NIGHT
Jacob speaks to the crowds all sitting round, the stars shine
above, the wind blows softly. Everyone is happy and content,
many trees and large rocks sit about, some sit upon the
rocks. A large fire blazes in the center.

JACOB
It appears our God has led us to
this place, and it is HERE that we
will stay.

COLIN
Stay? Where we all going to live?

JACOB
We will build homes.

COLIN
Homes?

JACOB
There are plenty of materials all
around us (points), we can form
into groups and build a settlement,
a place where all will have a roof
over their heads.

Jacob walks over to some trees.

JACOB (CONT'D)
God has provided... Lets provide
God with a place worthy of... In
honour of His name.

EXT. THE RIVER - NIGHT
Jacob kneels by the river, he dips his hands in and scoops
some into his mouth. He glances at the water and sees the
reflection of a man.
Jacob looks up to see a figure standing on the other side of
the river, the figure is startled and quickly jumps behind a
large boulder.
Jacob stands and calls out.

JACOB
Who is it?

The figure’s head peers out from behind the boulder, and then
quickly hides again.

JACOB (CONT'D)
Don’t be afraid, no one here will
do you any harm.

The figure reluctantly moves out from the boulder.

JACOB (CONT'D)
Who are you?

The figure remains silent then after a few moments he speaks.

MATHEW
I am Mathew... What is going on
here... Who are all these people?

Jacob looks back at the encampment scattered throughout the

trees.

JACOB
Most of these people are American,
English, Canadian... We were
liberated and found our way here.

MATHEW
There are so many of you, where are
you going?

JACOB
We are at our journeys end, we are
staying right here.

Mathew relaxes and steps over to the river bank.

MATHEW
I will come over.

Mathew steps into the river and slowly wades through the
rushing waters. Suddenly he slips and falls, before he can
be swept away he grabs hold of a large rock. He holds on
being beaten by the rapid waters.
Jacob wades out but the waters are to strong, Mathew
desperately hangs on. Out of no where Colin dives into the
river and swims over to Mathew.
Colin grabs hold of the rock.

COLIN
Climb onto my back.

Mathew a bit reluctant slowly moves over and climbs onto
Colin’s back. Colin being a big man battles through the
raging river and carries Mathew to the other side, and to
safety.
Jacob looks down at a wet and relieved Mathew.

JACOB
Are you alright?

MATHEW
Yes. Thank you (looking at Colin)

COLIN
Now that your here maybe you can
tell us where we are?

Mathew sits up with a confused look on his face.

MATHEW
You don’t know what place this is?

JACOB
I think we are somewhere in
Europe...

Mathew smiles and then motions to be helped up, Jacob helps
him up and Mathew speaks.

MATHEW
You are in Israel my friend, and
these are-

EXT. PLAINS OF JEZREEL - DAY
A shot of the entire valley, zooming out and panning, the
multitude of people all sit, stand and move about in the
trees, by the river.

MATHEW (V.O.)
The Plains of Jezreel, they are
said to be the largest plains in
all Israel. Before the calamity
Israel produced much of its food
here.

EXT. TREES - DAY
Jacob and Mathew walk through the trees with a massive
mountain in front of them.

MATHEW
Many battles have been fought here
in the past... That mountain
(pointing) is Gilboa, King Saul and
his sons were slain on that
mountain. Jezreel was always a
target for invaders because it
produces so much.

EXT. TREELINE - DAY
Mathew and Jacob walk out of the trees and stop, in front of
them is the hilly area the multitude originated from. And on
one of the lower hills a large ruined city can be seen.

MATHEW
An over there (pointing) is the
ruins of Megiddo, it was one of
King Solomon’s fortified cities.

EXT. TREES NEAR ENCAMPMENT CENTER - DUSK
Mathew and Jacob walk together, people are busy working
around them, collecting wood and fashioning tools.

JACOB
Why are you here Mathew?

MATHEW
I live here, I was born only a few
miles away from here. My family
was taken about three years ago.
Since then I have been wandering
about the plains trying to survive.
I hadn’t seen a single person until
this very day.

JACOB
Would you consider remaining?
Staying here with us?

MATHEW
I think it is God’s will that I
found you... I will stay.

They grasp each others hand tight and smile at one another.

EXT. THE BUILDING OF JEZREEL - DAY
PASSAGE OF TIME. The multitude are busy BUILDING HUTS AND
SHACKS. Jacob walks about DIRECTING THEIR ACTIVITIES. COLIN
STANDS ABOUT BARKING ORDERS. The settlement SLOWLY TAKES
SHAPE.
People move about HAPPY AND ACTIVE. SIMON LIFTS HEAVY LOGS.
JAMES HAMMERS AWAY BUILDING A WALL. KATE FASHIONS A STRAW
ROOF. MATHEW STAND WATCHING EXCITED WITH THE PROGRESS.

EXT. CENTER IF SETTLEMENT/GIANT STONE - DAY
Thousands of people all pull on many ropes straining to pull
a large and very tall stone onto its end. Jacob stands
directing their efforts.
One large group of people pull and other groups hold rope
attempting to stabilize it, so it doesn’t fall. After much
effort the tall stone falls into place, to the cheer of all
the people.

EXT. CENTER OF SETTLEMENT/THE OBELISK - DUSK
Simon stands on a ladder, made from rough pieces of wood, he
is just finishing carving it into the shape of an OBELISK.
At its base Mathew is also carving, with a sharp stone, he
carves JEZREEL - CITY OF GOD.

EXT. JEZREEL CITY OF GOD/LARGE MEETING HALL - DUSK
Jacob stands by a large hall like structure made of rough
pieces of wood, mud and branches. He stands looking around
at a completed settlement, there are many huts and ladders,
fences and gardens. He smiles at the peoples success.

EXT. JEZREEL CITY OF GOD - DUSK
Shot zooms out, birds eye view of Jezreel settlement. There
are thousands of huts and shacks, numerous fires, and many
people scattered about.

EXT. VISION STATE/ARMY APPROACHING - DAY
A massive army of hundreds of millions moves forward,
scattered across the landscape. They swarm over green and
verdant hills, there is a sea of angry faces.
The sky is flashing with lightening, thunder rings out and is
deafening.
Jacob finds himself standing on a hilltop watching this
titanic mass of people approaching, the wind blows hard into
his face. His beard blows wildly about.
He then looks and see many armies all moving across the
landscape, coming from every direction.

INT. JACOBS HUT - MORNING
Jacob wakes to the sound of a voice, he looks up to see Colin
standing over him. The hut is empty apart from some crudely
fashioned chairs and a wooden bowl next to him.

COLIN
Can you hear me?

JACOB
Wha.. (yawns) What is it?

COLIN
You said you would have a look into
this wall today, we just need
your... Point of view (smiles)

JACOB
Don’t you ever sleep (smiles)

COLIN
Umm... Not lately (laughs)

JACOB
...All (yawns aggressively) right,
I’ll be with you in a few minutes.

Colin nods and quickly marches out of the hut, Jacob sits up
wiping his eyes, and looking out the open door, he sees
people moving past, busy and going about their daily
business.

EXT. SETTLEMENT WALL/NORTHERN SIDE - LATE MORNING
Simon, Colin and Mark stand by a half built wall, the wall is
made out of logs and mud. It is a very dull day, and the
wind is blowing hard. There are a number of people passing
by.

COLIN
Yes... But in the eventuality that
someone does attack we can assume
they will-

Jacob appears yawning and cuts in on Colin.

JACOB
We can assume that God will protect
us.

Colin climbs up onto the wall and responds.

COLIN
This wall will not keep anything
out, it’s barely holding my weight.

Colin stomps on the wall and parts of it crumble and fall to
the ground.

JACOB
We have been delivered to safety
and yet you still live in fear?

Colin jumps down with an angry expression.

COLIN
I’m just making sure... I’m just
looking out for everyone.

JACOB
...You must have faith Colin...

COLIN
That’s your answer to everything!

Colin looks at the group

COLIN (CONT'D)
Isn’t it... That’s his answer to
everything.

Colin walks up to Jacob and stands a couple inches away from
his face.

COLIN (CONT'D)
You stand there with that bloody
smug look on your face...

JACOB
Don’t mistake my confidence in God
as arrogance.

COLIN
Oh yes that’s right I’m full of
mistakes, aren’t I... Colin is just
one big mistake (loud)

JACOB
That’s not what I meant...

Colin pushes Jacob.

COLIN
Your the mistake, every suggestion
I make you just say its shit.

Colin pushes him again.

COLIN (CONT'D)
I’m sick of you, I’m gonna build
this wall, and your gonna shut the
hell up.

MARK
Shut up Colin (demands)

Colin looks at Mark.

COLIN
Don’t tell me your falling for his
holier than thou routine.

He looks back to Jacob.

COLIN (CONT'D)
His I’m better than you speeches.

Colin pushes Jacob much harder. Jacob does nothing, he just
looks back at Colin with a look of calm on his face.

COLIN (CONT'D)
LOOK he’s pretending like he just
doesn’t care, Mr I’m not affected
by anything.

JACOB
Look Colin it’s obvious your
hurting-

Colin, in anger, lashes out and punches Jacob in the face,
Jacob falls to the ground.

COLIN
Are you hurting Jaaacob (sarcastic)

Jacob sits up, still remaining quite calm, Simon restrains
Colin as he attempts to hit Jacob again.

COLIN (CONT'D)
Where’s your God now eh?
(shouting), He didn’t protect you
then.

Simon drags a very energetic Colin away, Colin struggles to
get away while yelling back at Jacob.

COLIN (CONT'D)
Yeh you just stay there on the
ground, you just sit there in that
damn mud, where you belong (cries)

Mark helps Jacob up.

JACOB
Well we still need to build this
wall, I never said we that we
shouldn’t.

Jacob and Mark continue looking at and discussing the wall as
shot zooms out and reveals entire unfinished wall.

INT. JEZREEL SETTLEMENT/JOSEPH AND JENNIFER’S HUT - DAY
The hut is filled with flowers, a large mat lays in the
corner for a bed. Several windows have been cut out letting
bright sunlight in, and the wind blows through causing the
flowers to sway about.
Joseph sits on a wooden chair fashioned from branches, and an
elderly Jennifer stands tending to her flowers.

JENNIFER
Maybe we’re in Heaven now? It is
so peaceful here.

JOSEPH
Peaceful? Did you not notice poor
Jacob laying in the dirt after
Colin took to him?

JENNIFER
I was just expecting things to
be... well dark... like in the
camps. Until Jesus arrived back
that is.

JOSEPH
Well I’m not complaining.

Joseph gets up and hugs Jennifer from behind.

JOSEPH (CONT'D)
I love you... (kiss)

EXT. PLAINS AND BASE OF HILL - DAY
Shane runs along the flat grassy plains towards the hills.
He skips and looks up at the sky, a bird flies over he stops
and watches it. Then he continues running and jumping.
It is a brilliant day, the light shines bright and Shane has
a look of happiness on his face.

EXT. JEZREEL SETTLEMENT/OUTSIDE JAME’S HUT - DAY
People walk past, the sound of activity echoes through the
air. James sits on the ground using a sharp piece of rock to
sharpen a stick.

EXT. SETTLEMENT WALL/NORTHERN WALL - DAY
Simon and Colin work together to build the wall, Simon stops
to enjoy the warm sun on his face.

EXT. THE RIVER/NORTHERN END - DAY
A large crowd of people enjoy the hot and sunny day.
Children run and jump into the water. People wade and
splash, and some are collecting water and returning to the
settlement.

EXT. THE RIVER/SOUTHERN END - DAY
Jacob kneels next to the river, he is alone and the
settlement is quite a distance away. He kneels praying to
God under the shade of some trees.

JACOB
Thank you my Lord, thank you for
not leaving or forsaking us. Thank
you for putting a roof over our
heads-

EXT. JEZREEL SETTLEMENT/VEGETABLE GARDENS - DAY
Several people tend to the gardens, as an old man sits
watching with a long stick in his hand. Suddenly there is a
massive boom to the north of the settlement.
Then another, soon there is the constant sound of explosions,
everyone stands looking north with the look of concern on
their faces.

EXT. SETTLEMENT WALL/NORTHERN SIDE - DAY
Simon and Colin both stand on the wall looking north, in the
distance they see a figure approaching. It is Shane
frantically running towards them.
He comes sprinting up to the wall yelling.

SHANE
You must get Jacob, he has to come
now (desperate)

EXT. RIVER/SOUTHERN END - DAY
Jacob kneels in prayer, then he is suddenly interrupted.

MATHEW (O.S.)
Jacob... You must come right away.

Jacob looks up to see an exhausted Mathew looking down on him
with a frightened look on his face.
Jacob, concerned, gets up and they leave.

EXT. LARGE HILL/NORTH OF JEZREEL SETTLEMENT - DAY
Jacob, Mathew and Shane walk up a steep hill, the sound of
bombing and gun fire rings out from beyond it. As they reach
the top the plains on the other side are revealed.
Millions of soldiers, thousands of tanks and other vehicles,
swarm across the plains. Masses of smoke rises up and bombs
explode every where.
They are quite a distance away and fill the entire horizon.
There is around 200,000,000 of them. There is other large
groups coming from a number of directions and they are all
fighting one another.
Jacob looks to see Mathew and Shane laying down and peering
out over the plains with fear. Jacob remains standing with
the wind blowing his hair and beard about.

I/E. JEZREEL SETTLEMENT/MEETING HALL - NIGHT
The whole settlement crowd in and around the hall, fires
blaze and people sit silent as Jacob speaks.

JACOB
It is quite possible that they will
pass us by, they may go in the
other direction. We are well
hidden behind these hills.

PHILLIP
What if they don’t, we have no way
to defend ourselves.

JACOB
We must all trust in God... We must
now more than ever. The time of
the end is here, our King’s arrival
is imminent.

The sound of bombs unsettle the crowd.

JACOB (CONT'D)
That is the sound of birth, and the
death of the old world, the old
ways of doing things.

COLIN
What if your wrong? What if they
come over those hills and.. And
kill us all.

KATE
We must have faith.

LORY
We have to pray.

JACOB
Yes we should pray, pray that no
harm will come to us, pray that our
King arrives soon.

COLIN
I’m not going to waste my time with
all that, if they come through
those walls out there you’re gonna
want weapons not a bunch of people
on their knees. Listen to
yourselves... We must arm
ourselves (shouts)

MARK
And what will that accomplish?
There are millions of them out
there. They have guns, what do you
have... at the most a sharp stick..

COLIN
So.. What? So what then we just
stand around looking all passive
and just let them come and kill us?

JAMES
We don’t even know if they are
going to come in this direction.

COLIN
Oooh trust me they will, That’s one
thing I have learned in life, they
will come and we will all die.

JACOB
We have to stop being negative,
what purpose does it serve.

COLIN
It will make sure that I survive.

JACOB
Do you not see that the only reason
you are still alive, is because of
the grace of God. The only reason
you have survived is because God
has protected you?

COLIN
Where you see supernatural inter..
Er intervention I see luck, and
luck isn’t going to save us if
those damn armies come over that
hill.

JACOB
Enough!

Jacob gets angry and begins shouting at Colin

JACOB (CONT'D)
You are filled with fear, so much
it’s enough for all of us. God has
not given us a spirit of fear, but
of courage and soundness of mind.
I used to fear, I was a creature
frightened of my own shadow. But
now I don’t have to fear.. you
don’t have to fear, not any more.

Colin walks out of the hall and calls out to the crowd.

COLIN
All those you wish to fight, to
protect the settlement should
follow me. Don’t listen to this
coward who would stand by and watch
everyone be destroyed.

Colin pauses and scans the crowd.

COLIN (CONT'D)
Are you all afraid? He says that I
am afraid... But I say you are.
Don’t you want to fight? Or would
you so easily give up all that you
have built? Fight (shouts)

Colin walks up and down thrusting his fist into the air.

COLIN (CONT'D)
Fight. Fight. Fight. Fight.

Slowly but surely many in the crowd join him in his chanting,
before long thousands of people are chanting.

DISSIDENTS
Fight. Fight. Fight. Fight.

Colin turns and looks back at Jacob and smiles.

EXT. SETTLEMENT WALL/NORTHERN SIDE - DAY
The wall is lined with thousands of dissidents, Colin stands
along with them. The faint sound of fighting in the distance
echoes through the air.
It begins to rain and the skies grow quite dark

INT. JEZREEL SETTLEMENT/JACOBS HUT - DAY
Jacob sits on a chair with James, Kate, Mathew, Mark, and
Joseph are with him. The rain patters on the roof, and gusts
of wind blow at the hut moving its fragile walls.

JOSEPH
What are we going to do about them?

JACOB
Nothing... They have made their
choice, I will not try to
interfere.

KATE
We must try to talk to them, this
is a Christian settlement and they
are out on the walls spoiling for a
fight. This goes against
everything we built this place for.

Kate stands in anger.

JACOB
God will help them... We must pray
for them, if those armies do come
over that hill, they will need all
our prayers... not our scorn Kate.

Jacob motions to Kate to sit down, she agrees, calms down and
sits.

EXT. SETTLEMENT WALL/NORTHERN SIDE DAY
The rain pelts down and the dissidents stand and kneel
watching the hills for any movement

EXT. VISION STATE/SETTLEMENT WALLS - DAY
The walls are swarming with thousands of enemy soldiers
firing their rifles. Many dissidents are dying and the wall
is crumbling. Behind the hills are covered with soldiers all
heading towards the settlement.
There is great panic, and the rain drives down, there are
puddles of water mixed with blood.

INT. JEZREEL SETTLEMENT/JACOBS HUT - MORNING
Jacob wakes and sits up. The rain pounds on the hut roof.

EXT. JEZREEL SETTLEMENT/JACOBS HUT - MORNING
Jacob exits his hut and sees that there are only a few people
lining the walls, he looks across to se Colin and a few of
his followers warming by a fire.

EXT. JEZREEL SETTLEMENT/FIRE NEAR THE NORTH WALL - MORNING
Colin sits warming his hands on the fire, the rain pounds
everything. Several circle the fire.

DISSIDENT
I can’t hear any shelling... Do you
think they have moved on?

COLIN
That could be just sitting around a
fire just like we are, waiting for
this damn rain to stop.

Jacob walks into shot and sits down.

JACOB
Colin... You have to reconsider
what you are doing here...

COLIN
Unless you can come up with a
better idea, other than mumbling
into the air, I’m not moving away
from those walls.

JACOB
Look I know that if you try to
defend this settlement you will
die, (looks at others) you will all
die.

COLIN
Oh so you do think they will
attack, all that talk and now your
the one being negative.

JACOB
Listen, You have to rely on God,
please don’t go out on that wall.

COLIN
I’ll do what I like, where was God
when my Brother was executed in
front of me? Where was God when my
whole family was dragged into a
field and shot? Where was God
then?

Colin stands.

COLIN (CONT'D)
You say rely on God... I say God is
unreliable. I go to protect this
settlement and if I die... I die.

Colin walks off towards the wall. The others look at Jacob
as if considering his words then reluctantly follow Colin.
Jacob sits in the pouring rain, with a look of hopelessness
on his face.

EXT. THE RIVER/NORTHERN END - DAY
Jacob washes his face in the river, he notices his
reflection, his face is weathered and he has a large beard,
then he hears the wind pick up and voice sounds out.

POWERFUL VOICE
Choose.

Jacobs stands with a confused look on his face.

JACOB
...Choose what?

POWERFUL VOICE
Choose.

The wind dies down... Suddenly he hears a man cry out

DISSIDENT (O.S.)
They’re coming, over there.

EXT. SETTLEMENT WALL/NORTHERN SIDE - DAY
Thousands of dissidents are rushing to the wall, each carry a
spear, rocks, or a club. Colin stands on the wall pointing
at the hills.

EXT. THE RUINS OF MEGIDDO - DAY
Millions of soldiers stream through and past the ruins, the
clouds above are dark and menacing, rain pours down.

EXT. HILLS AND PLAINS NORTH OF JEZREEL SETTLEMENT - DAY
Millions of soldiers pour into the plains from every
direction, the hills are swarming and they are all heading
towards the settlement.

FRIGHTENED DISSIDENT (O.S.)
What are we going to do.

EXT. SETTLEMENT WALL/NORTHERN SIDE - DAY
By now all the dissidents line the walls, Colin stands tall
watching the soldiers approach. The wind blows his clothing
and hair about. The massive army can be seen rapidly
approaching in the distance, cutting across the plain.
Jacob walks to the wall and calls up to Colin.

JACOB
You must turn to God, we can’t
fight these odds

COLIN

I didn’t say I think we can win, We
must protect the settlement.

JACOB
Pray with me now, it is your only
hope, it is... God is the
settlements only hope.

Colin yells out to the dissidents.

COLIN
Don’t let them come over this wall,
stand your ground.

A shot rings out knocking a dissident to the ground, everyone
looks over with a nervous fear.

JACOB
Colin (shouts)

Suddenly all hell breaks loose. Thousands of soldiers all
charge at the wall, bullets fly crashing through and over the
wall, many dissidents fall down dead.
Colin slips down behind the wall and Jacob ducks down with
him. Soldiers come crashing into and over the wall. A great
battle follows with the dissidents desperately fighting off
an endless supply of men jumping over the wall.
The wall crumbles and soon collapses in many places. A
soldier jumps over landing on Jacob, Colin grabs him and
stabs him with a sharpened stick.

Colin takes his rifle and in a rage he flies over the wall,
and begins firing wildly.

JACOB (CONT'D)
Colin! No (shouts)

Colin mows down soldier after soldier, but it is futile, a
sea of men swallow up the entire area. Suddenly Colin is
shot in the leg, he falls to the ground with Jacob watching.
As he lays there a group of soldiers notice him struggling to
get up, they move over to him and aim their rifles.
Jacob watches in horror waiting for them to fire, just then
he hears a voice.

POWERFUL VOICE
Choose.

Jacob decides in that moment to try and save Colin, he jumps
the wall and runs over to him. He sees they are about to
execute him as he sits on the ground, so he makes a choice.
Jacob rushes up and stands between the soldiers and Colin and
they fire. Just then a large group of dissidents overwhelm
the soldiers.
Jacob lays on the plain riddled with bullets, Colin kneels
next to him in shock.

COLIN
Jacob? Jacob (loud)

Jacob lays looking at him smiling. Colin picks him up and
carries him back over the wall.

EXT. JEZREEL SETTLEMENT/SOUTH OF THE WALL - DAY
Colin carries Jacob away from the wall and carefully lays him
down, many people crowd about, some weeping. Behind them is
the northern wall which is being completely overwhelmed by
soldiers.
Jacob looks up at Colin.

JACOB
Rely.. (fades out than comes to)
Trust in God, He trusts in you.

Jacob then dies, with a large group of people watching on,
which includes Mathew, Shane, Lory, James, Kate, Jennifer and
Joseph. Colin puts his head down and begins to cry. He then
looks across to see that soldiers had entered the settlement.
Colin then closes his eyes and lifts his hands up to the sky.

COLIN
God in Heaven, please forgive me,
please help us.

EXT. THE PLAINS OF JEZREEL/THE SKIES ABOVE JEZREEL - DAY
All the winds fall silent, and the sky changes from grey to
blue. Then there is a faint rumble. The rumble gets louder
and louder. Then a massive thunderous sound echoes across
the entire plains.
There is a brilliant flash of white light, it travels from
the east to the west. The whole plains and the settlement
become lit up.

EXT. SETTLEMENT WALL/NORTHERN SIDE - DAY
All the soldiers who are climbing over the wall or have
entered the settlement suddenly turn to dust, and blow away
in the increasing wind.

EXT. THE PLAINS NORTH OF THE SETTLEMENT - DAY
The millions of soldiers and now tanks see this and begin to
run away. But a wave of energy passes over the plains they
all melt where they stand. The plains flow with blood, a sea
of blood rushes up to the settlement walls and splashes
against it.

EXT. THE HILLS NORTH OF JEZREEL - DAY
The soldiers are running frantically up the hills away from
the plains. But they too are wiped out by this powerful wave
of energy. The hills flow with blood, with the mutilated
bodies of soldiers being tossed about as if in a river.

EXT. THE RUINS OF MEGIDDO - DAY
Thousands of soldiers and tanks, sit a distance away at the
ruins. They watch in horror as the wave reaches them and
obliterates everything and everyone. The tanks and other
vehicles are turned to dust and ash.

EXT. JEZREEL CITY OF GOD - DAY
The whole population watches the utter destruction with awe
and with fear. Colin stands with his mouth hanging open
holding Kate’s hand tight. Then there is an even greater
flash of light, it is so white it is blinding.

Colin turns with the bright white light on his face, and his
fear turns to joy, he smiles looking up.
