imagine a woman named october.
august. strange month. stranger: girls with the names of months. always the light, easy names of spring & summer. april, may, june. never the cumbersome names of their colder counterparts. imagine a woman named october. she would be a masterpiece of rich, dark hues like ochre & umber. her hair would be cascading autumn leaves of auburn, her skin a gloomy, murky brown. october would live a young life of neverending change and grow to be a woman haunted. october would stand tall & steady through the coldest winds, bending only for the most violent. and then, oh in those strongest of winds october would dance & sway as only the sturdiest beauty can. october, mesmerizing as the fire crackles and the north wind sweeps through making the flames and the whimsical woman dance. then, in solitude, october would sit wrapped in the warmth of a green knit sweater, sipping ginger tea and contemplating impending november.

imagine a woman named november.
