This is a poem that sprung from an actual dream about my brother who died 9 years ago
You take my hands in yours
And bow your head
Before looking into my eyes.
Your chocolate brown eyes sparkle
With that certain something I could never quite place.
Now I know they sparkled with love.
You speak.
“You mean so much to me”
Tears being to trickle down my cheeks
My breath catches
“I’m so sorry for all I’ve done”
You say, your eyes never leaving mine
“I love you”
I exhale slowly, sobs beginning
You start to fade
My heart rips to see you go
I can just barely see your smile
Don’t leave me again!
I turn away to wipe tears from my face
And you’re gone
Again
But I’m left with a comfort, a peace
I had not know
I have heard the words I needed to hear from you
I feel your presence
Even after I have woken up.
