Keys from the Master fade away
The Key

The Master had thousands of keys
Hanging in rows on the wall,
There was one Key that had been there
Long as anyone could recall.

He'd seen the Master take other keys
From their usual hanging place.
He put them in His pocket
With a smile upon His face.

The oldest Key that was hanging there
Wondered what became of each friend.
He'd heard when they left with the Master
Their life would come to an end.

Then one day the Master said,
"I need you today!"
That oldest Key was filled with fear
As the Master took him away.

They traveled to an apartment,
An old man was in a chair.
He was reading the Bible on his lap
While smoothing his thin, gray hair.

The Master presented the old man the Key,
"It's time to use this, my friend.
You have been a faithful servant,
Your job here is at an end.

You'll only need to use this Key once,
And then it will fade away.
Your mansion in Heaven is ready,
You're going there today!"

When Heaven's door was opened,
The Key lost all its fear.
Instead, it was filled with wonder
At the sounds that reached his ear.

The old man stepped over the threshold
Standing tall, and bent no more;
He had received a new body
When he opened Heaven's front door.

And as the Key faded away
He was filled with complete euphoria,
He could hear the angels singing,
"Gloria, Gloria, Gloria....."
