A peculiar phone interaction leads to a volatile and mysterious confrontation.
Jared walked along the school hallway as people snickered as he passed. He entered an empty classroom before anyone came. He got his backpack and took out a laptop and went to his favorite site-writing.com and took up where he left, writing his contest entry he entitled Keepers of The Realm. He sighed with relief as he began writing. If only he could live his fantasy world.

The rest of the class filed in and Jared sneered, expecting insults to come at him.

“What’s up dragon boy?” said John Wagner, the school quarterback.

“I take that as a compliment. The only thing that makes you is a stupid ball you move with your foot.”

“Take that back, loser!”

“Hmm…seems you have an anger issue, too.”

John made a fist to punch Jared in the arm just as the teacher walked in. “Good morning class. Turn to chapter four on the cause of the Civil War.”

Jared put away his laptop and opened his history book.

“After class, dragon boy,” said John.

Halfway through, the class took a quiz and Jared zipped right past every question. He took a deep exhale and continued his story on his laptop.

The bell rang and Jared knew he would face John Wagner, but it would be in the absence of any teachers. His iPhone rang and he looked at the number and name. The number he did not know, but where the name would be read-Help the Realm It was obviously a prank call from someone. He clenched his teeth and kept walking.

His phone rang again and it was the same name and number. He pressed accept and spoke in an angry tone. “Whoever you are, you’re only amusing yourself!”

I am Nithose from the kingdom Bane!said the other voice.

Jared’s eyes widened and he rushed to the restroom and his heart was beating. “Who is this! I have not shared my story with anyone!”

My name is Gaylen, the wizard from your story.

“I don’t know how you know, but this is not funny!”

Please here me! I beg you!”

The voice sounded very scared and serious-not at all a joke.

“What is happening?”

Suddenly the facetime icon lit up. A ball of anxiety formed in his gut and hesitantly pushed it. In the small screen he saw a chamber of stone with Gaylen, exactly how Jared pictured him-a wrinkled face and sea-blue eyes that described his age and his wisdom.

“It is you! Why is this happening! How are you contacting me?”

In your story you gave me the power to traverse realms. I am from one of those realms.

“Why are you calling me?”

You were born in the age of the New Testament and have access to the new covenant. An evil and powerful wizard named Thourn, has taken the realm captive and only the Spirit of begotten Son of God can thwart him.

“What do you want me to do?”

You must speak a prayer of rebuke in his presence.

“I’m not religious.”

But you have access to salvation. You must accept it

“How? And why can’t you do it?”

Thourn’s power trumps mine.

John Wagner entered the restroom and Jared snapped his gaze at him.

“Time for some pain Jared,” he said as he neared him. He made a fist as an azure glow came from the phone and both teenagers were startled. A ball of light emerged from the phone and turned into a lion’s head that roared loudly. John screamed and ran out.

“You can do that?”

Indeed. As I said, I am a wizard.

“Isn’t sorcery condemned in the Bible?”

You write fictional magic. Some write of real sorcery. There is a difference between real and fanciful magic. Gaylen paused. Before we face Thourn, you must swear fealty to God and His Son. You must realize the gift of Eternal Life.

“What do I do?”

Believe.

“What?”

Even now, God’s Spirit beckons you.

“I do feel…something…something…good and pure. I know what to do.” Jared kneeled and he said a prayer. “I accept you Lord of heaven and Earth and your Son who perished for my eternal life. Through your death I am saved.” It was a quick but spiritually profound prayer.

“Your eyes are opened! Now let us face him!”

The screen flashed and Jared saw an iron door but Gaylen’s face was not there. Jared expected how Gaylen could show any image without relying on any view setting like Jared’s phone.

Gaylen thrust his hands and a whirlwind ripped the door off its hinges. Beyond, was Thourn. His yellow sunken eyes gave Jared a repulsive feeling though it was through a screen. He wore a black sackcloth cape that overlayed a silk robe.

Rebuke him!

Thourn became bigger then turned into a scarlet, reptilian figure. What can your small savior help against this!

Don’t give into fear! Rebuke him! said Gaylen.

“I…! How can I! He’s immense.”

Don’t despair, Jared!” said Gaylen. “Just a little faith will work!

Try your best, child!

“I rebuke you!” Nothing happened!

Reach within!

Jared kneeled and asked God for his Spirit. Instantly, his courage and resolve were quickened like an inner light. “I rebuke you in name the Almighty! Be gone!”

Thourn’s dragon form fell and he shrieked then he took human form. “Impossible! I am THOURN! He convulsed and stilled.

Success!

“I must share my discovery with others. All along it was so easy.”

I believe that is the next thing you are to do. Now I leave you.

“Will I see your realm and converse with you, again?”

Allas, your quest here is done. Now you must do your new quest in your realm.

“The great commission-to win souls for eternal life and be adopted as children of God.”

Jared exited the restroom and saw John cringing. Jared approached him and comforted him. “I will explain everything to you. First, I must share something.”

Thus, the second convert of many peers came to pass.
