This poem is about taking responsibility for your own destiny.
The way to go is straight ahead
Go on and follow the song you hear
In your heart, your mind, your dreams when you sleep
Someday, it will echo all around you

You can only sing with your own voice
Use it-it's your only choice
You may keep it hidden, but still you know it's there
Even though, for now, it is silent and still

Is there someone holding you down?
You've supplied the bindings, the weight, the force
What keeps you there is within no one else's grasp
It is only within your reach

Are you looking for someone, something to blame?
First of all, take a hard look at your reflection
Whatever is keeping you still, subjugating your dreams
Can be banished by releasing yourself with your own key
It's the only one that fits all the locks
to the places and faces that make you afraid

Open the door, look past the facades
Fear and pain do not kill
They can only teach
Teach you how strong you really are

Now, look into your own eyes and meet yourself
It's not really as bad as it seems
In that gaze, find your worst enemy, your best friend
The core of your deepest dreams
All that you want, all that you will
Is there if you will just use it

You were not brought into this world to fix other people
To change them, remold their vision
Take a good look at yourself, without blinking
It requires all the courage you have

You are strongest when you are most vulnerable
You can be invincible when you're afraid
In your darkest hour, you can shine your brightest
Straight ahead-but only you decide the way.
