A candle kind of personified. A quick poem written in exchange for math homework.
She learned to dance before
She learned to walk, in fact
She never walked at all
Simply waved and swayed
On her perch she was the
Only one, she would have
Outshined anyone else
Over and over she flickered and
Twirled, against a black backdrop of the
Tiny world she owned and as she
Tried to perform a leap on the wind, a
Tremor felled her core and she
Backed down, growing small and frightened
Beaten by her chilly enemy, she was weak
But her show would go on, rising to her
Beautiful full height, she resumed to dance
Her resonating brilliance brightening and enlightening
Her darkened surroundings and
Her performance captivating to see
Her spell cast on all the weary eyes that watch
Except, at a distance
Enter her domain and pay the price
Endless pain is what she gives off for the
Enchantress is cursed, to a life of
Doomed exile and inevitable
Death, her only joy in world of
Dark demise is her never-ending
Dance. But all dances come to an end.
With the fatal gust of wind or
With the accidental exhale, a
Wondrous flicker of brilliant steps
Withstanding grace, but not
Life, and as she is thrown from her perch
Letting herself be carried away, she dies
Luminosity fails, the stage grows dark except for a
Legenthening trail where she once was
A swirling soul
Ascending to the heavens, dancing
All the tiny world in mourning
And the smoke dances away
