Once there was no sound, no wind and no rain
~Comments on this & anything else I've posted muchly appreciated because I'm only 13 and am looking for suggestions on how to improve. Thanks :)~

Once, there was no sound, no wind and no rain.
There was silence, and I wore it like a coat,
I wore it like a mask, like a second skin,
So that it had slowly become me.
Then, it came time for me to shed the skin,
And as curtains fall to herald the ending,
So curtains fell to welcome in the rain.
And I have learned what is outside of my coat,
Of my mask, of my protective covering.
Before, I was a shell and had no problem with it.
Now, I am something less...and something more.
I am choking on wind and on the rain,
But slowly I am becoming me.
