The meaning of faith

According to Webster's dictionary, faith is defined as "belief not based on logical proof or material evidence." That seems a pretty straightforward definition, but it is rather impersonal. So, I will expand on that definition. Faith is knowing that even though you have just been diagnosed with a life-threatening condition, somehow it will all turn out right, even if you die. Faith is knowing that even when you screw up royally, God still loves you, and you are still his child. Faith is having a deep, abiding peace inside, because you know that no matter what the world throws at you, no matter how hard life gets, you can handle it as long as you trust in the Lord. That is what faith is.

On a more personal level, faith means knowing that there are people who will always love you, no matter what you do. It is also trust. If you have faith in someone, you trust them to take care of you, and to keep you safe.

You can't see it, you can't touch it, but it is always there. If you are lucky, it is the unshakable foundation of your life. If you build your life on faith, there is nothing in this world that can hurt you.
