Childhood memories

What is the power of a childhood memory?
A vaguely remembered day, a hazy experience,
These events shape our lives.

But what happens when childhood is erased?
No idea of your past, no inkling of your history,
This thing can devastate one's life.

When did I graduate high school? Who were my friends?
What was I like as a teenager? Who are these people in this picture?
Who were my boyfriends? Who is buried in this cemetary?

Facts can give you an outline,
Memories give your life color and definition.

How can one recover from this tragedy?
Loving parents, a supportive family, stories from friends,
But most of all, faith in God above.
