I try to get in touch with my spiritual side but always end up sounding cynical.
Excuse me God,
have you dropped on by Earth lately,
just to check in with a few of your old friends at least?

Yeah, we are pretty old now, aren't we?
Even if we still act like kids,
and you're still our great great great...grandfather really.

Drove-thru any cities lately?
Tasted the disaster and disrespect to the world
in the dark flavour and stench of fumes.

Seen the homeless cowering on the street corners,
begging for your mercy.
Seen the soldiers on their battlefield,
killing, dying, and praying for victory in your name.

Is it all a game to you?
Are we an amusement, your little pawns that love to
sabotage themselves
and knock each other off the board?

Do you pity us when we curl up inside ourselves
and when we try to reach out as well?

Have you simply abandoned us as a lost cause?
You know, I wouldn't blame you. I've given up too.

I don't believe in you anyways,
but...
I'd just like to hope that out there somewhere
there's someone besides myself
that still believes in me
and always will.

Despite my misgivings, the lies and deceit,
and the times I did the wrong thing.

Forget it. I don't need the sympathy.
I'd just need you to understand, if you ever existed,
that you'd need to believe in me first,
before I could ever begin to believe in you.
