thoughts on our thoughtlessness regarding nature
During my break
at the restaurant,
I sit on the rooftop
verandah
And look out over
the sun splattered
Daylight dabbled
stringy-barked gums that
house the crows
that rule this town
from their eucalypt
Thrones.

Today
my supervisor said
the trees were going.
They will be
cut down
so guests can see
the distant skyline
of the city
they came from;
Those other towers
of reflected
Light.
