This summer room
waits; white-walled,
bare.
A body sprawled brown
and naked,
corded
limbs open to
static air.
On the wood floor
a stuffed cat
curls,
ears pricked
and wary,
Wired to nothing.
And the electric
fan
whirls;
its purr
the only
Movement.
Stirring life
through this still life
in Summer.
