First love. First great loss.
He said to wait.

We walked down the lover's path. His hand holding mine. His hair unkept and as black as night. If you looked long enough his wisdom showed with silver strands. The path small, my leg pressing against his. He smiles because I can't keep my balance. I am young. My first love. I closed my eyes. May it last forever. I gripped his hand he gripped back.
My protector. My teacher of life. My strength. "Where are you we going?" I asked at last. The lover's path was rarely walked. Only those who were dedicated and loyal could make it to the end. Those who couldn't would find the path long and tiring. We didn't walk so much before I started to see the end. I was proud of myself. "This is where you will find me." he said. as he came to a stop. A big cherry tree standing infront of us. "In the wind that caresses your hair. In the blossoms that fall to kiss your lips." He looked at the cherry tree. His sincere eyes searching for something. Not finding it he looks into my eyes. Whenever there is something he can't find he looks into my eyes. I smile.
"Where are you going?" I ask.
"I have done all that was needed of me here. I have nothing more to offer. I go where I am needed. I am needed somewhere else."
"Where?"
"Far."
"For how long?" I grip at his arm.
"If you sit here and listen, you will find my whispers. If you sit here and dream you will dream of me."
"Please don't go."
"If you feel something brush your shoulder, do not fear. I longed to touch you."
"Please." tears choking at my throat. I gripped harder. He smiled.
"I will never leave you. We will meet again. " he leans down and kisses my forehead. "You are strong, you will survive. Just wait"
"I will wait for eternity."
"I don't ask for eternity."
"Ask for my life, it is yours."
"I have your heart, I believe that's enough." tears run down my warm face. His cold soft hands brush them away. I close my eyes.
"Come back to me." I say with a trembling whisper. "Someday." he smiled again. With that he left.
I sat and cried my silent tears. Little did I know of what was to come. Little did I know that as he left he dropped to his knees and cried for me. Little did I know death was at his feet. Little did I know that his heart would stop. Little did I know he left it with me.
