I met this man in 2004, he was working as a comon laborer with our Team in Northern Iraq.
I happen to meet a Kurdish poet named Mohamed Hasim.
Whose entire family was killed due to a poem written by him.
He inflamed the mind of Sadam it seems.
And five simple words he could not let stand.
Caused all their deaths and the loss of his right hand.
Now standing there with tears as the story was told.
The words, “I long to be free.”
Never to be written by Mohamed Hasim.
