I've become like water, water held in child’s hands
Water Through the Gaps

Sleep, sadness, day, nigh. My heart is slipping from content’s steady grasp. Falling gently, falling slowly, farther, and farther. Way after way, path after path, more and more found every day, which lead farther away.

I've become like water
Water held in child’s hands
Run through the gaps

Drip, drip, drip
Become a puddle on the floor
Lightly tread upon, stuck under and beneath
None looking down with care nor love
Just walked upon and forgotten, so very easily
Just a dot among so many others
All on the floor

So many puddles, so very many. Each blind to the others around. Together they could be an ocean strong and steady. But they will remain solitary. Only wanting to reflect in on themselves. Reflect on times before the sadness. Which in turn brings more.

If only that child could grow up
Hands held firm
If only he could
Then I could become more
Than water
Water through the gaps
