The heartfelt cry that led me from desperation to know God and His Son Jesus Christ.
Tossed and Empowered

When first breath came, it came with a cry
A tiny form instantly sucked into the tempest’s eye.
One moment bobbing happily in the fallacious calm,
In another taken by the cold undercurrent’s arm.

Helplessly drowning in a sea of fears
Raining never-ending tears;
Lightning cuts through the suffocating wave
Burning rage flailing in its unproductive cave.

And still drowning, completely without hope
Struggling, crying, pleading for some way to cope.
Except for the random moments in the deceitful eye,
When almost, I believe the hopeless lie–

That all is not lost, and that I might just matter,
A single tossed soul gasping for air with every wave’s splatter.
Yet knowing a drowning man’s strength cannot last indefinitely,
And without refuge, the last breath will go–the death of me.

Young enough to be called child; yet old enough to know
Gathering the last of failing strength a cry does go.
If God be so, let Him show this one soul
Does life really matter?  And how so?

A prayer to a God only suspected to exist, but not known,
Yet heard nonetheless, before a heart had turned to stone.
A true calm rolls in and the tempest begins to be lost;
Plucked out by one who knew salvation, and knew the cost.

In the arms of His family, drawn out of the raging calamity,
Warmed in the sunshine of a loving family–
Not the vacillating clan into which I was born,
But the unwavering arms of the living, God–a Father and His Son.

His Words of comfort, peace, and joy unfold,
New thoughts build up, out goes the old.
Before a storm-tossed soul cowered–
Now a strong, beautiful, and loved soul–empowered.
