An attempt at a tributary poem, on the subject of memorial day.
In Memorial:

A day aside
Patterned for honor
Styled in harm
And cursed with death

Courage the currency
Life to be the product
Slow and vicious
To be the recovery

Lying soft and milky
Spittle did fly
The coward’s brand
Upon the brave

Smoke, blood ‘n gore
The volunteer’s wage
Served up to the altar
Of Liberty’s narrow waist

That smooth chalice
The only cause
Ever to be
Worth the sacrifice

To anyone who has served, will serve, or died in the service of this country-thank you
