Challenge: write poem on water without using wet, soak, rain, H2O, puddle, or water.
The heat of the springtime sun
slowly warms, then melts the snow
atop the mountain’s summit,
causing droplets of sparkling liquid
to run and converge into rivulets
that turn dry streambeds into
bouncing, babbling conveyers
leading the melted ice and snow
safely down, down the mountain
until it flows into the depleted lake,
refilling the reservoir sufficiently
to quench the neighboring towns’
thirst during the summer drought.
