The homeless live everywhere, does anyone notice?
We all come into this world much in the same way.
Sometimes though for a few of us something goes a stray.
First in her class, if she lasts, she really might go far.
Spends all her nights studying, not with her friends at the bar.

At twenty-two, what could she do when it all went bad?
Her parents died in a crash and left every bill they had.
No one is left to give her a hand in her time of need,
She lost her job due to stress, her thoughts they could not read.

Now on the street people pass, not aware of her at all.
Once her life was wonderful, now her box is cold and small.
An old friend from class happened to pass her yesterday,
She turned and replied, “Look at you! Figures you’d be this way”.

Inside her head left all alone, no one is her friend,
It is cold at night but she is all right she talks to herself instead.
Many years go by and life on the street has finally taken its toll,
When spring finally comes, ice is undone and they find her dead in the snow.
