A poem I wrote from observing a fountain at the University of Nebraska at Kearney campus.
I am But a Fountain

Smaller ones feed me,
Till I can take no more.
I burst out right,
To release the energy built.
Feeding others sitting below,
Till they rise up,
Putting on one fantastic show.
I bow out all energy spent,
While the other two continue their marvelous rant.
Finally the last one cease,
All is now calm.
Until I can't take anymore,
Repeating the steps before.
Some say I'm marvelous to watch,
With all my beauty.
While others compare me to anger,
Of which I'll never know.
For I am a fountain,
Only doing what I'm told.
Wishing and wanting more,
Of which will never be.
