omnipotent perspective of a dysfunctional family
I love Lucy
Golden Girls
The channels zip quickly by
Never catching more than a glimpse
Yelling in the background
“you good for nothing whore”
Saved by the Bell
Hogan’s Heros
Crashing somewhere in the distance
Shrieking, crying, pleading
Then suddenly it ends
Matlock
As the World Turns
The man walks into the room
Tells the boy, “it’s time for bed.”
He lays there awaiting his mother
Awaiting her goodnight kiss
The kiss that ends everyday the same way
The kiss that wraps his heart with love
Comforts him, shields him from all pain
The father says, “just go to sleep son”
He awaits the kiss that will not come.
