Other half, perfect complement, yin to yang, was and will
She feels like a part of the summer to me
And this isn't the summer I'd hoped it would be.

She's there for the highest highs and the lowest lows.
Can't have what I want, but ain't that how it goes.

She's a study in contrast-give and take.
I hope time apart is the answer, at least for my sake.

So petite and so tender, so tight and so taut,
To my bruised ego and heart, new life she had brought.

Licking each other's wounds and watching our backs,
Doors being knocked on, peeking through cracks;

We cannot commit, but we will not let go,
Like we're guest-starring in each other's own show.

In the fall she's a Goth, in the spring she's a flower;
In the dead of winter she is the warm shower.

Her body, her mind, her loyalty are the reasons
She's my summertime girl, but I need her all seasons.
