Looking up old friends on Facebook and feeling sad
There are gems and gems of us
Scattered morning dews
Each drop an ocean teeming, unknown
Or partially glimpsed like movie trailers

We leave jammy finger prints on clean windows
Echoes of our symphonies and screams
Warped and chewed by the winds
What was that I heard you say?

I heard a school friend fell headfirst down a stairwell
He said good bye to me as I talked on a pay phone
I didn’t know it at the time, I would have said something different

Some of us are illuminated by the sun
Some by the moon
Some are tired and long for sleep.
I wished I’d known you better when I was young.
