Who Are You?
By Antero Realista

In a world where discrimination lingers, often times we caught ourselves in a middle of a thought or a question that lessen our confident spirit. We become vulnerable to insecurities and doubts, crawling and attacking us like a kind of sickness that causes fear. Day by day we start to weaken, searching for answers that we don’t really need to find. Looking for an identity that suits everybody, not realizing that what we’re looking for is just in front of a mirror.

Sometimes life can be so unbearable People tend to put barriers between you and the community because they believe that you don’t belong in their world. These kind people are the ones who based their way of living through social standings, skin color, educational level etc… These are the people whom I consider to be blind, unfortunate and one track minded. They are blind in a way that they are not capable to see variations of real beauty, wherein black and white are the only colors that they can see. I pity them for they are unfortunate to get out from their chains of boastfulness and innocence of wonders. And I think of them as one track minded individuals for they cannot expand their wings of wisdom to the realms of reality.

Each day that we get out from our houses we face a world that is very much different from what we experience with our family, one that unwanted things can’t be stopped from happening. These inevitable things are created by people who think that they have the right to make others suffer because they see themselves above from the ground. Well, people like them do exist and you should not fear them because you’re far too better than them.

We should not let other people take our individuality, the one gift that makes us unique and special. We should not instill in our heads that they are the only ones who can make things happen. What we must remember is that we are created equal, that we are all living in a world where everybody posses incomparable talents and skills. Now I want to ask you, who are you? Are you the person who posses that talent? One who stands on his/her own feet and take each day as a challenge. Or are you that someone who posses the talent but is afraid to try because you have let those monsters take you down? Which are you the forge Excalibur or the rusty knife?
