First Celebrations

The moon shone above the sky so bright.
Two people, hand in hand, walked in its light.
Cold winds carried snow that covered the hills,
Wild animals snuggled closely to prevent any chills.
The tall young man walked with a smile on his face.
Stopped long enough to begin the tender embrace.
The petite young girl tip-toed to seek
A kiss of sweet passion, both lovers would sneak.
Thick ice on the lake reflected their forms
Words were not spoken, but felt, as intimate storms.
The music from town was floating on air,
Kept calling all townsmen to join in celebration there.
The couple arrived at the hall and opened the door.
Small faces whipped around to show happiness and more.
“It’s Santa! He’s here! His suit is so red,
His black boots of leather are awesome!” the children said.
“There’s his sweetheart, dear Joy. We welcome you too!
You have a dark scarf that is such a beautiful blue!”
Santa put down his bag and sat in a big chair.
To begin the first Christmas in the tiny town of Pierre.
