the only way we know how to live
song, poem, or something in between.

Untitled-working title: Mistake

Well your rearview mirror's getting foggy
And the light from over the highway is making my eyes hurt
But this is the time of your life
The only difference you'll ever make
You drum your fingers on a dusty dashboard
Let me be your last mistake.

Cause I'm that girl that will break your heart
All your friends could tell it from the start
It's the way I twirl my hair around my finger
It's the way three words just linger
On lips chapped from too much sinning
It's the only way we know how to live.

Your body's shaking; I can tell its wrong
We've got more seconds than I remember how to count
My hands know better how to move
Than lives that don't know how to live
We've sold our souls for a helping hand
Or an ear to hear our tired cries
Because a kiss is never just a kiss
And you know I'm your best mistake.

Cause I'm that girl that will break your heart
All your friends could tell it from the start
It's the way I twirl my hair around my finger
It's the way three words just linger
On lips chapped from too much sinning
It's the only way we know how to live.

Why,
The only way we know how to live
