Welcome to a world where everything seems so normal yet everyone has unsolved issues.
What is the first thing you ask for when you get into a restaurant? You obviously select a place that has good customer service, quality food, beautiful attendants, proper ventilation, good seats and most of all a place where you can relax as you think about your day. So do you ask for a glass of water first, cup of coffee, or wait till you are served with the menu? Welcome to "La Belle" a neat restaurant on Kimathi Street. It is just ten steps away form the Nation Centre and has a good view and is well protected from the scorching sun. Most people who have been here leave satisfied with the service and the food, they always come back for more. There is a mini bar, a pub and just the fast food section and it's great to be here. The owner, George Mukami, is working on opening a classic section, reserved for perfect dinner dates, luncheons, seminars and exclusive parties. He stands five foot seven, has dark wooly hair that is well trimmed, his suits are exclusive and he has a way of dealing with people. His charisma, laugh and personality attracts attention and has secured him a good reputation. He is loved by most people and his approach in business is appreciated by most, except for a seventy year old man he really respects, his dad. Being an only child his dad expected him to study law and take over the family business. His failure to do so created a drift between them which has lasted six years. George was ready to start over, on a clean slate, but his dad offered to do so only if he took over the family business, something he wasn't interested in. George had a passion for restaurant management and he decide to follow his heart just like his mom told him to. It did pain him that his father wasn't proud of him but he promised to move on with the hope that he would finally change. One thing was for sure he was never going to be his father!
La Belle is located in the Central Business District of the country and he loves his job.
Some of the people who make his day include Amber, Beryl, Michelle and Pierre, his staff. There was more to the name of the restaurant than George accepted, he named it after her fiancee who dumped him at the altar for his best man. Bella, was her name, she was beautiful, funny, a good cook , but he wasn't good enough for her. After years of self pity, he resurfaced and opened a restaurant that was now his sole purpose for living.
Most people didn't know how hard it was for him to get into the limelight and they also didn't know what he did when they curtains were drawn, at times he didn't even know himself. He watched, Amber as she served two clients, she held a tray on her left hand, it had two plates of french fries, bhajias, and some cutlery. The two men watched as she walked briskly back to the counter to get their sodas, George realized that he wasn't the only one who appreaciated her beauty. But he had gone through so much to turn back and begin from square one, it would be a disaster and besides he had a business to run and people to feed. He pulled out his cellphone and scrolled down to Luke, his best friend, a short slender, sleezy man, who was shaking the world of criminal law in the country. His last case saw him defend a corrupt tycoon, from the jaws of the government.
