The Longest Film

1995 -
They met amidst troubled times, two friends comforting each other, smoothing out the troubles that stuck out like creases.

Yet, without any notice, they both fell in love. Both not willing to acknowledge it, holding the pain of their love inside themselves. Then came the time where would part, still, the guy could not bring himself to confess his feelings for her.

2000 -

5 years, a thousand, eight hundred and twenty days. Thats how much time flew by after their hands parted. Then he met her once again, on a crowded street market he saw her. There was no mistaking her long flowing hair, her soft features and demure mein.

In his heart, sparks flew again. He had kept his feelings buried for so long that they burst out the very instant he recognised her.

Yet, again, all he could manage was a smile. Because inside, no matter how burning the desire to tell her that she governed his heart. He still wondered if telling her might hurt her.

What If, she was attached?
What If, she was just a friend?
What If, she never liked me?

Those three questions ran over his head again and again each time he laid his eyes upon her pretty face.

Fake smiles, self-deceiving flattery and bluffed intentions was all he would give her.

Yet, the girl would never know that. Because, in her heart, all she doing was waiting for him to tell her the three words.

So, after all the greetings and hopeful smiles, they left each other again.

- 2005

Another 5 years, nearly forty thousand hours, passed. They met again.

At a meeting of companies, the boy had grown into a matured man, the woman was no longer the callow girl she was. But as the man looked at the love of his life, something was different.

Ah, her hand was different.
It had a ring.

So that was it. He resigned in defeat, his fears confirmed, the worst nightmare wasn't just a dream anymore. They were friends forever, something he wasn't satisfied with.

For the woman, she couldn't wait for the man all her life. Life was the victim of time. And time, is the devil. It would not stop for no one to say "I Love You".
There came a period where she knew she could not wait forever and gave another man a chance, while unwillingly robbing another man of his.

To her, the memories shared were so aged, they were now just a movie that kept playing back in a her mind. And there must be an end to such a movie, she made it so by accepting that little engagement ring.

- 50 minutes later.

As she was crossing the road, softly giving her canorous voice to her fiancee on the phone, a car speeding across the road hit her.

There was no sparkle of hope that she might have survived the hour, she laid there, hanging on to the very last breath she had, praying that he might come out.

That, he did.

The man ran out to her,
kneeling by her side he cried.

"My dear...

all this years, I wanted to say...
ten years ago... I wanted to say..
f-five years ago... I wanted to say...
I ...

I love you"

She died that day, a smile on her face. It seemed, that their movie wasn't finished till that very second he said the three words that many reserved for the person who holds their hearts by the reins in their hands. And this, is the end of a ten year movie.
