When friends grow apart, when one grows up and the other trails behind
Drifting off into a time
Where my dignity did not mean a thing
My action caused only
The pain I was willing to swallow
There was only me to disappoint
And nothing stood between my sorrow and me
Now I can only chase it
Envy is an understatement
For the indignation that swells
While I watch your life
Before me
Bloom into hope and security
Your going have to
Hold your tongue
Hold your breath
While I complain for a while
Give me a moment although I have had many
To exert my calloused heart in your ear
To infect you with the misery
Because isn’t that how
It always goes
I speak
You pretend to engage
While your staring off
Wondering where your latest crush
Might be right now
